The general consensus based on what? Looking the wiki it seems well liked enough. Not close to "hated" or even disliked.

They got lots of their info from Rotten Tomatoes. I don't really trust that site. People review bomb it and it has lots of bots. To fair it's not like my assumption is based on a much better method. But I think it works okay. In the end we will really know, if they ever bring the character back.

Does anyone ever wonder that the moment this "war on female sexiness" started since 2010 is the reason why Earth's human population is currently collapsing rapidly?
Or is it just me with my IQ300+ observation?
If Scarlet Johannson really rolled her eyes at Jon Favreau's words then she shouldn't have taken the role of Black Widow.
Similar aspects with the other 'sexy' characters of Marvel - Wanda, Gamora and Captain Marvel.
Elizabeth Olsen got topless in two different movies but she drew the line at wearing something sexier for Scarlet Witch.
Zoe Saldana is a gorgeous woman perfect for mostly every role she's done, but her costume is baggy and thick layered.
Brie Larson has a beautiful figure but that stupid suit might as well be a nun's habit.
Men or Women, sexiness sells. Hollywood has forgotten that.

No. That is because their is no war on sexiness. Have you checked out just how much porn, people consume these days and just how easy it is to get access to it? Sure their will always be prudes around but people do still like to have sex. I do notice though their does seem to be some correlation between fertility and politics. I read in America the top 10 states with the highest fertility as late as 2023 were red states and the bottom 10 were blue states. Makes me wonder if "Idiocracy" was onto something, when it comes to this issue. Republicans generally don't believe in abortion or birth control and they are religious where liberals tend to want to take time and be responsible about taking on the responsibility of having children. Making sure one has a good job and stable home environment etc.

First off, no such thing is happening. The population is still increasing at about 0.9% per year, which is consistent with the trends of the past several decades. The growth rate is declining, but a decrease in growth rate is not a decrease in actual numbers, just a slower increase. And the decline in growth rate is a healthy thing, because it means that old Malthusian fears about Soylent Green-style runaway overpopulation are not coming to pass. Birth rates declining is a positive sign of improvement in women's rights and freedom of choice, and has been going on for generations as women's rights have improved worldwide. But that's not a "war on sexiness," it's a move toward gender equality.

Second, it's nonsensical to suggest that not objectifying women in the media somehow makes it impossible for them to have children. It's not like men are the only ones capable of taking initiative in forming relationships that lead to childbirth. Women are not just passive products sitting on a shelf waiting to be bought; women who want to find partners and have kids are perfectly capable of choosing to seek them out, and to express themselves sexually in personal, private contexts when they so choose. That's an entirely different matter from the cultural pressure to objectify female characters for the male gaze even in contexts that aren't about personal relationships.

The highest recorded IQ in history was 228, and IQs above 200 are almost unheard of.

People who need to make a living are often required to accept conditions they're unhappy with in order to get and keep a job.

Context matters. A character getting undressed for a love scene makes sense and serves the character. A fighter wearing a sexy and revealing costume rather than practical protective gear does not make sense and undermines the character. Someone fighting for her life or the lives of others has no reason to care about pleasing male gaze.

You're talking to a guy that has raised two self-sufficient daughters to adulthood.
You're also talking to a guy that laments why his daughters aren't dating or even thinks about dating at all.
I am not going to force them to, they are perfectly capable of deciding who and when to date, but except just one of their friends in their immediate circle, none of the girls or the guys are dating.
That is a worrisome trend whether you accept it or not.

Jesus Fucking Christ you are thick.

She was already well established as a household name when she took the role of BW.

These are powered superhero characters, not Batman or Hawkeye, that they'd need copious amounts of armor.
"Male gaze" is what has kept these IP's alive for decades, whether it's a sexy female character, a buff male character or a beautiful piece of machinery.
Models of the ENT-D still outsells with extremely high markup than models of any Discovery ships. That should be evident enough.

And I should care...why?

Going for the lowest common denominator of "sex sells" is bullshit. Create actual good content for people to enjoy not appealing to hormones. Good for depth not skin deep.

People are ridiculous :sigh:

I have three kids, two of them are already married. The third just turned 18 and is dating.
