What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

The show is hurt by the fact we already seen the character and people didn't like. It's the Echo problem, again. A good first impression could have really helped the show.

But it's true. Spider-Man and Black Panther made good first impressions in Civil War. Black Widow in Iron Man 2. If you go into a show with people not liking the actor or character from actually watching the character in action it means she or he has more to overcome. So it seems you either need to really make your mark in your first impression or let the show or movie be the first impression.

People did like Echo in the Hawkeye show, and folks actually didn't like Widow in Iron Man 2 if you remembered. There was no real dislike from the general audience towards Ironheart in BP2, the ones who disliked her went in already wanting to hate her because they were part of the anti-woman/anti-nonwhite movement that's been around for over a decade.

I don't recall people disliking Black Widow in Iron Man 2. I recall people not liking the movie but that is different. Also I didn't see much praise for Echo or Ironheart. I know certain groups love to call them out for clickbait but that doesn't mean most people didn't like them just because they found them to be boring. Echo was a little more liked I would say but I don't think they were really so well received that people were dying to see them have their own tv show. Agatha was also in this same boat but unlike Echo, her show was great and she proved all the naysayers wrong.

According to who?

I am one of the people who liked IM2 and was really happy to see BW in the movie as well as Fury.

As for Ironheart, Coogler is having a moment right now and his name is splashed all over the advertising in a desperate attempt to attract viewers. It might end up being a good move on Disney's part.

What is fascinating is Coogler could end up having the best movie of the year and worst tv show of the year. Has anyone ever won a Oscar and Razzie award in the same year? As for Iron Man 2. I had issues with it at the time but I rewatched it recently and I really like it now. I so much want Justin Hammer to return to the MCU someday if for no other reason than to let Sam Rockwell do the dance again.

I don't many people were complaining to hard about her being sexy. I mean that is a big part of the character and Tony Stark was still more hound dog and less family man at this point in the MCU. She didn't have much to do but that I think was by design. She is their mostly to be set up for the first Avengers movie.

If I recall correctly the main issue with Black Widow in IM2 was that it was probably the most sexualised the character was presented as. I don't even recall her doing very much. At the time it felt like Johansson was really wasted.
Jon Favreau defended the sexualization of "Natalie Rushman" as being part of Natasha's cover, which earned an eye roll from ScarJo.

When it came out the general reaction was that she was a superfluous addition who was nothing but T&A and barely a character. She didn't get real characterization until Avengers 1.

No one asked for an Agatha show either, or a Penguin show.

She's gone on record with how Natasha wasn't well done or portrayed in IM2.

A lot of people were worried that BW would add nothing more that T&A plus quips to the MCU. Turned out that was false. The first reactions on trailers and such had some people doubting. Scarlet quickly shut that down after people saw her performances in both that movie and Avengers and quickly became a fan favorite.

And even in the Avengers movie poster, Natasha was the only Avenger who was standing with their ass to the camera.
