Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I don't read the new comics, but I do follow along with what's going on on sites like Marvel.com or Io9, and there one thing that's been kind of bugging me, it's really hard to tell with the new X-Men comics if the X is meant to be read as an X or a 10. First there was Powers of X (10), which I read as Powers of (the letter) X until the series was almost done. Now we have X (10) of Swords, which they have been promoting for months, but which I had been reading as (The letter) X of Swords up until a couple weeks ago. It would be nice if there was some way to indicate which way it's supposed to be pronounced on the promo artwork and covers.

Yeah, that's Hickman trying to be a little too clever for his own good in that case.
Which I don't mind Hickman at all, just, that choice does bother me, it's not 10-Men... wait... is it?

Well my diversion into trying some DC stuff didn't take and I'm back to completing my epic Marvel catch up.

Empyre's not very good is it ? But at least a new writer on Iron Man is something to look forward to if I can get through the horrible crap of Slott's run.

I actually liked Empyre, to me its probably the first good Marvel event in half a decade if not longer.

As for Slott's Iron Man, that was a really rancid run. The last Iron Man run I enjoyed was when it was about him and a bunch of AI stuff, but then he became an AI and it went to crap. Making Tony not the actual son of the starks was really stupid too, but I don't think that was Slott's run, probably right before it.

What about Slott's run on FF? It looks it's got pretty good rating on Comixology, Amazon, and Goodreads.
I got the first collection on sale at Comixology, so I was going to read it no matter what, I'm just curious what to expect.

If thats the current run, I think its ok. It struggled a bit in the middle with the FF going to a random planet (I don't want to spoil it), but honestly I think Empyre got it back and track. Its not my favorite run, but I like it well enough and I like having the Richards kids getting aged up (which I think was a decision made right before Slott's run, because of the Secret Wars event, but I like the new dynamics in the family with the kids being a bit older and more independent).

I only read about six issues before financial considerations caused me to choose between comics and rent, but I loved what I did read. Slott wrote an amazing eight issue Thing solo book in the early 2000s, and I've wanted to see him handle the entire team ever since.

If Slott is the current writer, then it's pretty decent. I've been catching up on the app (I got a sub for my birthday), so I'm not up to date, but he did a really nice twist on the origin story-- it's a complete 180 on the horrid idea that Reed knew about the effect of the cosmic rays ahead of time. Also-- I don't know if this is a spoiler at this point, so I'll hide it:

Ben and Alicia got married

Which I've been waiting for for a long time.

My main complaint is that the art is modern generic and very much not in the cosmic, larger-than-life FF tradition.

I don't have a problem with Slott per se. I quite enjoyed his (divisive) Spider Man run and his FF are O.K.

His Iron Man run has, however, been as you Americans say, a dumpster fire. Utter drivel. I've just finished the underwhelming Empyre and gone back for a third run at IM2020 and bailed again, skipping to the quite promising new IM#1. I'll try again later.

I see there's yet another "event" due with X Of Swords and another after that. I've been catching up on marvel and the big developments in the last decade or so, so have read both Civil War's, Time Runs Out and most of the recent-ish big crossovers.

There are too many and they're not good enough. They disrupt the flow of the individual titles and I'm a bit sick of them to be honest. War Of The Realms was pretty gruelling.

I take it they sell ?
