Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I accidentally came across news that Issue #18 will be the last for Iron Man. Was it not doing well? I'm of mixed feelings about the book myself and have definitely not been enjoying it as much as the Bendis run.

I suspect that Arno Stark will be headlining as Iron Man for much of 2020, in a nod to the original Iron Man 2020. In any case, it looks like there won’t be a renumbering any time soon, given that Iron Man #19 is listed by Newsarama as one of the issues to have an Iron Man 2020 variant cover.

The Marvel Universe is getting it's own Hogwarts. Marvel has announced that a new series called Strange Academy, will be coming from writer Skottie Young and artist Humberto Ramos in March. The series will follow the students at a magical school in New Orleans, as they are taught to use their powers by Doctor Strange, Brother Voodoo, The Ancient One, Scarlet Witch, Magik, Hellstrom and "all of Marvel's most iconic magicians. The students are all new characters coming from all over the Marvel Universe, and the article introduces two of them, Emily Bright, "a girl who discovered magical powers since birth", and Doyle Dormammu, the illegitimate son of the Dark Dimension's ruler.

Wait? What?

Strange and Majik are no longer estranged?

She had to time travel to the 80s to get an education from the mustache bro, becuase 2013 Dr Strange was an awkward fascist prick with a speeddial to the mutant hunting secret police.

Yeah, I was a little confused by the wording there, which is why I used the exact quote.

How do they handle flashback stories to eras like the beginning of Spider-Man's career in Spidey? Do they move things forward and include modern things like cell phones, or do they write them as taking place back in the era the original comics were written.
Since I've been reading the first Spider-Man Masterworks, I've been thinking about checking out Spidey too, and that got me wondering about the flashback stories.

Yes they do. The tech would reflect what was available 10 to 15 years ago rather than 50 or 60.

Ok, thanks. That seems like a nice way to have them happening in the past, but not to far back.
So is that generally where they have things start off, 10-15 years ago?

Usually in that range, except for characters like Captain America and the Sub-Mariner.

When Jesus was born, it was like someone left a turned on flash light up her baby pooper.

Alternately, I swear this is true, my art history teacher from high school said that the Renascence artists "pretended" that JC teleported, like in Star Trek, because they were squeamish about afterbirth and shit being splattered everywhere.

Clea, Dormamu's daughter, is sometimes the ruler of the Dark Dimension.

Doyle Strange?

I really hate how pretentious Hickman is being about changing the X between series to sometimes mean 10, but only when he tells you.

Can't wait for him to say we were supposed to be calling them the Uncanny 10-Men all this time.

That is just a homage to Morrison who did it first 15(?) Years ago with Weapon X. It is just making use of an accepted idea in X-Men lore.

Anyway Wolverine and Logan are already crossing swords out there on the moon.

Marvel has announced the first miniseries based on one of the Avengers Academy attraction, W.E.B. of Spider-Man written by Kevin Schinick, with art by Roberto Di Salvo and a cover by Gurihiru. The attraction will feature Tom Holland's MCU version, but the announcement mentions about the comic is rather vague as to which version it will feature. It does mention Tony Stark, but the whole idea of Avengers Campus is that it will be drawing in characters from universes other than just the MCU, so that doesn't rule out the comic being set in the MCU.
