Major League Baseball 2009

I'm headed to NYC for the weekend for family stuff, but am going to check out the Mets' (fiance's family are Mets fans) new field while I'm there, provided I don't get hurricane-related cancellations...

Citi Field was very nice, a big improvement over Shea. Better sightlines and food options too. There are some gimmicky angles in the field and they couldn't figure out how high the wall should be, so it goes up and down all over the place. It plays really deep.

20-11? Damn, it was like 6-1 last time I had a chance to check the score. :wtf:

My wife is out of town and called to say hi last night. We were only on the phone 20 minutes, but it went from 6-1 to 12-4 during that span. I gave up on it after a while and watched preseason football. It was like watching one anyway with that score.

A good win by the Tigers last night. They'd been losing a lot on the road, so good to see them actually win one. And the White Sox lost, so the lead in the AL Central is up to 3.5 games....

Screw the Marlins. They are getting way too close for comfort in the Wild Card race. Hopefully the Cubs can stop losing this weekend and really make the NL West interesting.

Psht, either the Marlins win or the Braves win and frankly Braves fans are more annoying. Mostly because they actually exist.

If Ryan Howard gets an RBI tonight, he'll be only the second Phillies player to have 30 HRs and 100 RBIs in four straight seasons. To give you perspective, the other one is Chuck Klein - Mike Schmidt never got those numbers in more than two straight seasons. That's some pretty good seasonal consistency from Howard.

The Red Sox turn it around today with a beautiful fuck you to the Yankess with a 14-1 win.

I mean as crappy as last night was, Brad Penny is the Sox fifth starter, and would not be pitching in a short playoff series. For some reason beating around the $80 Million AJ Burnett was so much sweeter today.

And oh yeah....Junichi Tazawa has balls...big balls....

Not a good loss by the Tigers today. Losing games is not helpful when you are trying to hold off teams chasing you for the division lead...

That had to be one of the strangest games I have ever seen. It had an in-the-park home run and an unassisted triple play to end it.

Also I think I'd prefer Jamie Moyer in the #5 spot over Pedro Martinez.
