Major League Baseball 2009

I'm thinking you already know the answer to that. I watched Hiroki Kuroda throw seven perfect innings against the Braves last year. Texeira managed to get the only hit in the 8th.

I'm glad you have a sense of humor about the Mets. What did you think about that story about that Mets VP taking off his shirt and challenging the minor league Mets to a fight?
I heard the Mets banned all NY Post employees from access to the stadium for posting pics of him topless on their website... :rommie:

The Mets are a comical organization at this point.

The Mets have certainly made the season more enjoyable for people who like crazy antics and bad plays. ;)

Two good wins by the Tigers yesterday, taking out the White Sox. They were both tied for the division lead, but now the Tigers are up by two games. Hopefully that continues today...

Another good win by the Tigers today. Taking three straight from the White Sox gives them some breathing room in the division. It's nice to see the Tigers finally beat the White Sox, I haven't really ever seen that consistently happen.

Nothing like a 9 run inning to make your day.

Man, the Angels are on fire.

Imagine what's going to happen when they actually get healthy.

:techman:

Chone Figgins was on fire today. He's on my fantasy team and his stat line is a fantasy owners dream come true.

I have Figgins in the keeper league. I all but wrote off the steals category, but Figgins alone may help me win that one.

As for my Twins, not so good. Can't wait for this road trip to be over. They face the Angels again next week, but at least they'll have the Dome field advantage then.

And they would still lose to the Red Sox in the ALDS...:p

I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!

:(

:scream:

Do not forget, you all have a chance to watch the Tigers play tonight. Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. A good game too, against the evil Chicago White Sox.

I watched for an inning, but then I went to Huddle House. Sorry. :)

Eh, last night's game wasn't very compelling. Easily the worst one of the series to put on national TV. I stuck with it to the bitter end, but I doubt anyone not a fan of the Tigers or White Sox did.

It looks like Halladay will be staying in Toronto too. The Jays are pretty much asking the world for him, and no one is willing to part with all the young talent they want. Especially with how the economy has been. It's way cheaper to bring talent up through your own farm system than to pay for it on the market. And gutting your system of its top prospects is tough for anyone to do.

The Mets are good for a laugh right now.

^ Did you catch any of that press conference where they canned Bernazard...that was just bizarre.

I was driving home from the vet and caught it on Michael Kay show on XM. The Mets are a laughing stock. It's one thing to get bit by the injury bug and be out of it.

Its another thing totally to play the anemic, fundamentally flawed style of play we've seen out of them this summer. The product on the field stinks like dead fish, the minor league system is decimated, and the front office is in shambles right now.

If I'm a big time free agent, why would I want to play for them? Not to mention that Citi Field kills a hitter's stats with its cavernous alleys.

No reason to worry though, Ollie Perez is on the mound tonight.

They still haven't recovered from the Yadier Molina death blow in 2006.

Somewhere, just beyond that next star, Carlos Beltran is standing there looking clueless with his bat on his shoulders.

That's the most deflated as a sports fan as I've ever been. My (now) wife went to bed just before Endy's catch, and never understood why I was so bummed, until Superbowl XLII a couple years later. We don't talk about that game either.

I need to take up something less emotionally investing.

Be a Nats fan instead. You'll never be disappointed 'cause they usually lose!!

I'm just thinking of "Heart" from Damn Yankees-"Who minds them pop bottles flying? The hisses and boos? The team has been consistent! Yeah, we always lose!" :p Of course, that was the Washington Senators...

OTOH, the Nats are doing pretty well against the Brewers tonight. 8-5 top of the sixth...

ETA- 9-5! Go Nats! Brewers' pitcher is having a LOUSY night.

ETA 2- Holy crap! Another grand slam from Willingham. I'm keeping an eye on this kid. 13-5 Nats. Whoa!

Rangers finally beat Tigers. The Tigers have had the Rangers number this year, but the Rangers got a pretty good win tonight.

Now if only those damn Angels would lose.
