Mets lost to the Nats again. :scream: If they can't beat the NATIONALS, the worst team in BOTH leagues...there's no hope of salvaging the season. They need healthy players and a better bullpen.

edited because for some reason I typed "system" instead of "season", and I have no idea why![/QUOTE]

Because you hope that you are really just in The Matrix and their miserable season is just a dream and the result of bad programming.

Hey at least they scored one run last night. There's talk of Sheffield to the DL now too...

I hope they don't do anything stupid at the deadline. The season is lost, play the kids, give them some experience. Don't rush your hurt stars back, get them ready for next season.

And for heaven's sake...go get some pitching in the winter!!!

Sheffield on the DL too? :scream: :scream:

Yes, play the new kids and let the injured guys get back in shape. That's always a problem with any team- when an injured player is even half better, they rush him right out and he get hurt worse.

Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is a good pitcher for the Mets next season. And a pony.

I've enjoyed the Mets season so far this year. They've been responsible for a lot of priceless bloopers... ;)

Edit: So Buehrle throws a perfect game today. ESPN put the 9th inning of it on TV, and it definitely was impressive. Huge catch by that outfielder Wise to save his perfect game. This was the first perfect game I was able to witness (live on TV, but still), so it's pretty cool.

I'm glad the Tigers won't be facing Buehrle over the weekend, thats for sure!

I just saw footage of the Mets' Francouer ducking to avoid the baseball. It basically made my day.

The Nats can't lose games they don't play right?

I'm glad you have a sense of humor about the Mets. What did you think about that story about that Mets VP taking off his shirt and challenging the minor league Mets to a fight?

...and the Rangers *sweep* the BoSox! :techman:

(Not so sure that it was so obvious that Ian Kinsler committed interference in that one play. I just thought it was normal base running. At least he ducked the throw, didn't he? ;) )

Total interference...but fuck it it didn't matter anyway, this team couldnt hit the side of a barn right now.

While it sucks to watch, they are still at the end of the day, a better built club, and will go further into october then the Yanks or Rays, of that I am confident.

Yep. The Sox have a lot more depth and are well-stacked with farm talent, which I find a much better approach than blowing your wad on a few big-money players and hoping that they can deliver consistently.

Sox are back at home tomorrow, so that should help. Yanks are having an easy time of it right now hosting a bunch of crappy teams. That will change. :)

That was definitely impressive.

Although ESPN was playing at my job and they managed to devote 5 hours to the subject of this one game.

Mark Buehrle's perfect game was impressive- those are mighty rare. And some nice defensive plays by the ChiSox to help make it possible.

It would be nice if the Twins could get one of their starters to last at least 5 innings. Their bullpen has been getting beat up and now it seems that the bad mojo's starting to rub off on Nathan.

That was one hell of a ground ball in the ninth....

So... the Cardinals might be the team to beat now with the acquisition of Matt Holliday. He's already 3/4 with an RBI tonight.
