Major League Baseball 2009

I finally found a way to combine two things I love- baseball and beading! As full of fail as the Mets have been this season, I still love 'em. So I made this bracelet with a Mets charm:

I wanted to make a Rockies bracelet, too, but I couldn't find a charm. :(

Great, can you please strangle me with it?

Convince me to cheer for your playoff bound team. Go.

The Tigers have that really cool old English "D" on their hats. What more do you need? ;)

Looks like I may end up rooting for the Tigers in the playoffs (but not before). I went camping for a few days and came back to find my Twins 7 games back. They always have trouble on the road, but they seem to do worse when travelling east. Not giving up hope yet, but it's not looking too good right now.

Minnesota still has six games left against Detroit (so does Chicago), so no one is really out of the division race yet. Except for Cleveland and Kansas City. ;)

Lets just hope Chicago stays out of the playoffs.

Then again I'm a Mets fan and they have 147 different wacky hat and uni combos.

And the ugliest uniform patch I have ever seen on a baseball jersey. It looks like they're an entire team of Domino's drivers. :scream:

Oh well. Yanks really came through yesterday - what a 3rd inning! :techman: Bit concerned about AJ Burnett, and especially about Joba - the new rules are kind of cramping his style, I think (can't expect anyone to stay sharp if they only get to pitch like 3 innings a week!).

^ Oh, man, that's bad... :guffaw:

Check out the Mets website, specifically this:

Shea Stadium's open letter to Citi Field

This is hardly the first time the Mets have tanked, and Shea didn't do too well in its first season either. So I don't really get all the panic here. Unless there are a lot more fair-weather fans than I realized. :(

There's nothing like a series against the Nats to end a losing streak. I guess.

And the Red Sox beat the AL version of the Nats, the Orioles. Buchholz again dominated.

All I can say is look out AL. If the Sox make the post season, a trio of Beckett, Lester and Buchholz could be best out of any team there. Couple that with the Wagner, Bard, and Papelbon trifecta in the bullpen, that's gonna be tough to beat.

Well, if Brad Lidge had any say, we wouldn't have ended our streak. I don't think there was a single person watching that game who believed he wasn't going to blow it.

Lidge has cost the Phillies quite a few games this year. Something has gotta be in his head.

The Tigers lost a game to last place Kansas City yesterday. Thats not good. The bullpen gave up way too much. It doesn't help that Rodney, the closer got suspended for 3 games for throwing a ball into the stands down in Tampa Bay.

Last year, my roommate was a die-hard Phillies fan. He had the 2007 pennant on the wall along with that photo you can buy to pretend you just hit a HR and play for the Fightins, several jerseys, a Phillies teddy bear, mlbtv subscription. He's since moved on to med school. This year the only other person I know who follows baseball is an O's fan. He's moved onto football for the most part at this point. It's just not the same.
