the bullpen made it a lot more interesting than it needed to be.

I was actually mad when Zito was taken out. So he gives up a home run. It was still 5-1. If he had done it with the next guy than yeah I understand, but I think Bochy is paranoid of what happened on Monday that it might be affecting his judgment.

Well the Tigers lost today, but so did every other team in the division. So there were no real changes to the standings. All is still well in the AL Central.

Paul Byrd and Clay Buchholz say good day to the Blue Jays. I remember there was a time I hated playing that team...

3.5 over the Rangers, and 5.5 over the Rays...good stuff...

Lackey had a nice outing to stop the bleeding for the Angels. They've been in the crapper lately.

Luckily Texas hasn't really been able to take advantage of it.

What a week. This might go down as the most memorable week the San Francisco Giants Franchise has ever seen. At least in all my years of being a fan, this might be the case. You go from one of the most gut wrenching losses you could imagine, and being 4 games back in the wild card, to ending the week by exercising some demons, coming back with a clutch grand slam from Rentaria, and being tied to start the final month of the season. This has got to be a fun month of baseball starting tuesday. Unfortunately, the Giants schedule is harder than the Rockies schedule so hopefully they can keep even somehow. Hell, go for broke and just win. Still, what a week this has been and the stuff I said about this team doesn't deserve shit and won't go to the playoffs, I take it all back. I love the way this team responded this week.

^It's pretty crazy the way things can see-saw in sports during a single week. It's always fun when the team you're rooting for comes back and does something amazing. I'll keep pulling for the Giants. Until they start running into teams I like more. ;)

The Tigers won today, and took two of three from the Rays. Winning series against the Angels and Rays makes me feel a lot better about this team. They seem to be putting everything together.

Even the Mets won today (and I hear David Wright returns next Tuesday). So I'm happy!

I'm glad to see Wright is ok and will be back. My wife is just happy to see him in eye black and tight pants again before next season.

If that's what it takes to make a Mets fan out of her, I can take that.

Agreed. This has been a crazy week for the Giants for damn sure. It was tough to be a fan after that 14-inning game and the resulting loss...but they came back in a huge way. Today's game was just flat out amazing. They've pulled off some crazy comebacks lately. Finally those commercials are right, the Giants really are in this.

The Twins didn't gain any ground on Detroit, but by winning their series against Texas, at least they didn't lose ground either. Hopefully the Twins can bury Chicago this week and turn the AL Central into a two-way race.

+1

Not a stretch for the faint of heart. It's going to be an interesting ride....

Random trivia I heard on the radio -- Gary Sheffield leads the Mets in home runs... with 10. And he hasn't hit one since June.

Well it doesn't help when Beltran, Delgado, and Wright are on the shelf. Part of the reason Wright had so few when he was healthy was that they could just pitch around him to face the likes of Angel Pagan or Nick Evans.

Also, Citi Field does play pretty big it seems like.

^Phillies and Mets? Is it possible to root for both teams at the same time?

I kind of expected a hole to be torn in the universe or something...
