Spoilers Main Title Sequence

The music is not my favourite Trek title music, for that it's a little too generic and doesn't have a hummable melody, but it's nicely arranged and sounds good. The visuals aren't perfect either - the main ship is pretty ugly, I don't get why they are showing the TOS-phaser. But I like the artful style, and the imagery of a face/eye is a nice human touch through all the technology.

But the important thing: The visuals and the music fit very well together. It's not the best title sequence. But a very descent one. Would watch.

I don't think I've ever sat through anything from Star Trek that many times. You'rev talking to someone who has legitimately walked away from Star Trek at one point for a good two or three years.
If you watch the entire first season you'll hear the theme fifteen times. Plus you've already heard it at least once already. ;)

It's alright I guess. It's just the title credits so it doesn't matter to me much. After a few weeks of shows nobody else will care either.

The titles evoke a sense that...there's a marketing and design company out there looking for an Emmy nomination...
Well, if there's one 'streaming show' trope that ST: D fits - it's that...IE - We're Original Streaming Content ergo, the Emmys will LOVE US now. ;)

Somebody paired Faith of the Heart with it

:guffaw: Come on now, where's The Orville version??? ;)

At a certain point, if something has to be a certain way to be Star Trek, that's not a good thing.

Like a lot of things in modern Trek, the main title sequence became formulaic. This is different. I think it's good, not amazing, but I like that it's different.
I like how "modern Trek" now means the stuff that's only 20-30 years old rather than 50.

Wait till you've sat through it at least fifteen times plus reruns. :techman:
Well, this is a streaming series in most of the world, so reruns won't be an issues for the vast majority of people.
2001: this is dumb. Everything is the same.

2017: We hate this! It's too different!
Yeah, I've noticed that too.
As for the credits sequence, I like it. It's not the greatest thing I've ever seen, but I like it. It's a nice change from the flybys we got for most of the other series.

I like the titles a lot more than the theme on its own. They suggest the show is serious about respecting the connection/debt to TOS, which I appreciate. We'll see how much that ends up actually happening.

That said, having a non-melodic theme that basically exists to build up to the excitement of the TOS theme, paired with graphics of TOS props, is an odd meta commentary on Discovery as prequel. We'll get to the cool stuff eventually, but for now enjoy these adventures of wee Anakin on Tattooine.

Not liking this right now. It appears kinda rushed, like someone made a quick sketch for a storybord.

After all this is a space show, why is there no space?
