Spoilers Lucifer - Season 2

Great news.
Is Lucifer the most-watched DC/Marvel superhero show on tv?

I looked up the 18-49 demo ratings for Fox and the CW. Gotham is slightly ahead of Lucifer, and The Flash is ahead of both shows. Legion (on FX) is not competition (based upon the first episode), and I can't draw an easy comparison to the Marvel Netflix shows.

It's not so much that they believe themselves good as that they stop considering themselves guilty and deserving of punishment. Basically they damn themselves with their own awareness of their guilt. If it's an undeserved guilt, maybe they can eventually recognize they aren't to blame (although hellish punishment seems like a pretty ineffectual form of therapy to me).

It's an idea I've seen before in fiction, that your personal Hell is based on whatever punishment you believe, in the most honest part of your soul, that you deserve. I don't think it so much that your own sense of worth determines whether you get sent to Hell in the first place -- because then you're right, the people who deserved it least would be the ones who sent themselves there while the worst, most evil narcissists would go to the paradise they thought they deserved -- so much that your actions determine where you get sent, and after that, it's up to you to redeem yourself or not. Maybe.

This Lucifer hell seems more like the purgatory of hell or hell light. You torture yourself until you can move on to your heaven. (If hell is personalized, heaven might be personalized also) I would guess then that Hell is reserved for the irredeemable: Hitler, John Gacy, etc.

Are we defining "superhero" that broadly now? It's a comics-based show, but it's not a superhero comic. Okay, granted, Lucifer has superhuman powers that he uses to fight crime, and he kind of has a secret identity, in that he constantly reveals his true identity but nobody believes him. But it's a reach, I think. I'd put it in the more general category of comics-based fantasy shows, along with things such as iZombie, Constantine, Preacher, and The Walking Dead.

We really enjoy this show- premiered disguised as a weird procedural cop show but now has spread it's wings. I love how even the secondary characters are interesting and evolving.

answering my own question about most watched comic book shows, here are the L+7 total viewership numbers from Jan 30-Feb 5
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/dv...the-most-in-week-20-broadcast-live-7-ratings/

1. Lucifer - 6.196 million viewers
2. Gotham - 5.095
3. The Flash - 4.705
4. Agents of Shield - 4.234
5. Supergirl - 3.745
6. Arrow - 2.990
7. Legends of Tomorrow - 2.963
8. Riverdale - 1.907

Lucifer also led in same-day total viewership. And Lucifer also led in the 18-49 ratings too, both in same-day and L+7.

Lucifer - 1.9 (L+7) / 1.2 (same-day)
Gotham - 1.8/1.1
Flash - 1.8/1.1
Shield - 1.5/0.6
Supergirl - 1.2/0.7
Legends of Tomorrow - 1.2/0.7
Arrow - 1.1/0.6
Riverdale - 0.8/0.4

(Yeah, I know Riverdale doesn't fall under my original DC/Marvel question.)

I suppose that just goes to show that police procedurals are still king of basic cable. Its a bit unfair to compare the CW shows to the FOX/ABC shows though since CW, from what I understand, gets less viewers in general then those networks.

Would need to calculate the percentage of CW coverage/availability vs others and adjust accordingly.

answering my own question about most watched comic book shows

I don't think the ratings really answer that question with much accuracy these days.
Gotham and Lucifer skew older and older people are more likely to watch broadcast TV traditionally, while the CW shows skew younger and younger people are more likely to watch shows through alternative means(CW app, Netflix).

I think having them at the beginning of next season actually works a lot better than the end of this season.
I'm glad their moving to LA, it always seems weird to me when shows like this, where the whole culture and feel of the setting is a big part of it, doesn't film there.
Now I just wish The Originals would move to NOLA, although Georgia is at least closer to NOLA than Vancouver is to LA.

I felt Fringe lost something when they moved production from New York City to Vancouver in season 2 and were no longer able to capture that NYC flavor. (And Nina Sharp suddenly moved to an office with much smaller windows, so you couldn't tell the skyline was a backdrop now.)

Lucifer went to extremes to get Chloe to voluntarily back off. His mother is ticked off and Chloe has forgiven him (or moved on) so it's a big win for him. I'm glad that Lucifer and Chloe didn't get "together". The show isn't ready for that.
