Lt.Kyle

Again: T'Pau. Three actresses of different nationalities and even race across almost 40 years. Kyle isn't even the first trip to this particular interstellar rodeo.
When Voyager does things like that people assume that it's a mistake instead of a deliberate retcon! Especialy when it happens in a terrible episode most people would rather forget.

Who would those be? The shields up/incoming message/warp 5, aye brigade?
I'm mostly thinking about Detmer and Owosekun, who should really be main characters by now. I'm less bothered about Rhys, Nilsson and Christopher, but they do kind of suffer from the same problem to a lesser degree.

“Woke stupidity” - “woke garbage”. Here your first Woke warning for trolling.
He's the minor-est or minor characters that no one gave two shits about until they cast an Asian guy to play the current iteration and try-hard sleepers made him a pointless additional front in a culture war no one should give a fuck about, all so they can carry on their bigoted anti-woke parade which is thinly veiled commentary for "how dare you recast a white man with someone... other." You can be fine with casting an Asian person in another role, but as yourself why making a barely there character Asian bothers you so much that you go right for the lazy and tired cries of wokeness.

Ugh, it’s not about asians replacing whites or this race/that race etc. It’s just totally unnecessary and inaccurate as far as canon goes. I’d be just as annoyed if M’Benga had been recast with someone from any other demographic. Who by the way is one of my favourites on SNW. I love the EXPANDED roles these otherwise innocuous character from the TOS are getting. It enriches the universe.

I know it's VOY. But just sigh, grit your teeth and dive in. ;)

You know that's precisely the image you invoke in people's minds the second you start complaining about "woke stupidity" and "woke garbage" or just any non-sarcastic or mockingly joking mention of "woke" or "wokeness", right? Much less doing it in two consecutive posts.

You could have made the point you just made above. You might have gotten some pushback, because it's still silly being hung up on canon issues or recasting minor characters in the spin-off based on a first pilot for a show filmed 57 years ago, but you wouldn't have gotten the instant negative reaction from a bunch of people tired of hearing such a lazy bigoted cliché term being thrown around so casually. It's been done to death around here.

Maybe you were just trying to come off looking hard in your first day posting, but that's not the way to go. Say what you mean above without the buzz words about wokeness and you'll do fine and create a better impression.

Why? Because they're on the bridge?
I doubt Mitchell, Christina and Shankar are gonna get much development over the course of SNW, either.

You may want to go look at the people manning the transporter console in The Cage before continuing your claim that it goes: "against canon".

You don't seem to be very observant.

^In case Kruge doesn't know what you're referring to:

Good catch, BTW.

I see SNW as a reboot, thus have zero issues with characters being recast with differenct ethnicies (Khan in ID, April and Kyle here) or having completely different characterisations (Chapel)

Even Spock being wifed up is totally fine because this is as much TOS as The Batman is Adam West's version.

One of the darkest Batman comics ever written, if not the darkest, 'The Killing Joke', had a single panel showing Batman reflecting on an old photo of himself hanging out with Bat-Mite, meaning that all of the goofy 1960s stuff was supposed to have happened in Killing Joke's Batman's continuity.
