Yup. Serve the story based upon narrative interest not popular demand. Popular demand changes.
They got paid every show.
"Should" is a meaningless word.
I'm saying the characters could have been given more. Not really commenting on the actors. As you say, they got paid, even if it was to say one line and react in a close up.
But if were talking actors, Navia is acting circles around the ones playing Hoshi, Mayweather, Detmer and Owo.
I agree that Owo and Detmer have seemingly reduced in importance in the last season or so - I would suggest COVID may have been part of the reason.
If they don't get some more focus in S5 though then it is fair to say they have been determined to just be well known but overall unimportant bridge crew
Who's owo and detmer?
Which is what they are. Bridge crew does not equal main cast.
I'm Asian and I'm going to say it. If we accept SNW Kyle is indeed TOS Kyle, then we have to assume that at some point Kyle dyed his hair blonde and got cosmetic surgery to look more western. This already happens today (rumor is Jackie Chan for example got such surgery although it's never been confirmed, and other Asian celebrities)
This has extremely unfortunate implications, albeit unintended most likely on the part of the showrunners. Rather than SNW Kyle empowering Asian men, he's basically a token character stuck in the transporter room that even webcomic "O'Brien at work" would shudder at, who with visual evidence from TOS and Wrath of Khan seemingly got cosmetic surgery to become more western.
I figure he's the Kyle from the Cage rather than the other Kyle.
DISCO bridge crew: Ops and Helm respectively.
And that is fair enough.
Just be interesting to see if they get more involved again with no restrictions or if they have found their level.
No drama either way
It seems they moved away from a lot of ship based scenes last season for what ever reason, so that did limit the screen time of the bridge crew.
I don't have to assume any such thing.
It's either the TOS Kyle or it's a previous Kyle who was a transporter officer in "The Cage." Either way I'm not too fussed.
That's a really interesting take.
I like the idea that "Kyle" is the fellow from "The Cage". Would it have been too much work to give him a different name?
You're not Asian.
I'm so white Miracle Whip makes fun of me.
There's a helmsman named "Mitchell", why is no one worried that Gary is now Asian and female?
*sigh* Is there really?
Because Winstonmania never died!
Not Wrestlemania. Winston. John Winston. But Wrestlemania never died, neither. You can't tell me Ortegas doesn't like old Macho Man Randy Savage matches.
Because I knew 3 Mitchells in my graduating class of 33, none of whom were related.
How many Kyles do you know?
The same as the number of Mitchells.
Separate names with a comma.
