Season 1 has to have an episode like Spock's Brain.

You're really only missing out on the Beef and Cheddar sandwich. Everything else is a hard pass.

Not like animated series are that expensive. But it'll go as long as it goes. 10 episodes. 20 episodes. 100. Whatevs.

There might be some young fans who see it and really allow it to take off. I'd LOVE to see that.

This. This is honestly what I want. Star Trek labors too much in its past and is not as inviting to new fans as other franchises. This may be a way to get them involved and enjoy it rather than "Oh, that's what my parents watched way back."

Some fans would rather Star Trek die than have a Star Trek that does not live up to their divine expectations.

Probably, I think a lot of animated series take a year or two to produce. I wouldn't be surprise if they are at least talking early ideas for Season 3 at this point.
There's also going to be the Nickelodeon series for kids coming up sometime in the next year or two.

This blows my mind. No matter how many times I see it it absolutely blows my mind. I have no doubt that the people who post here are nice enough people (except for those two-you know who you are...:shifty:) but the treatment of Trek like holy writ is staggering to me.

One of my favorite things about Star Trek has been the variety it supports. Episodes have been done in every genre imaginable. Comedy, drama, tragedy, thriller, murder mystery, romance, fantasy, film noir, war movie, lounge musical, vacation hijinks, James Bond, black-and-white sci-fi serial, baseball movie, etc.

The thing I've probably missed the most in the streaming era is that these serialized shows don't play around with genre & subject in the way the more episodic earlier series did. Though, a modern serialized show with a short episode order can't really be expected to do that. They lack the space for it. Now, we need an entire additional series to have Trek in a different form.

I've also recently been revisiting TOS, TAS, and the original cast movies, and it really has highlighted for me how COMPLETELY different all three of these entities were, despite sharing the same cast.

So, from my perspective, I wouldn't say they're taking canon away from something it's not. I would say they're restoring a treasured quality of canon that has been otherwise absent in the streaming era.
