List Only! Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

Star Trek: Nemesis on Blu-ray.

To me, this is the TNG film that has aged the best. Not a classic by any stretch (though I was entertained), but it feels like an actual movie far more than any of the others.

Nemesis is the only TNG Movie where my opinion has had any movement. With the other ones, my opinion is exactly the same as it was when they were released. Which surprised me. What I thought of the first three TNG movies didn't change one iota. But my opinion of Nemesis has gone up.

I think the fact that I was burned out on Star Trek in the early-2000s and by then I wanted the people in charge gone ASAP colored my view of the film. Plus that was a shitty note for the 24th Century Star Trek to end out on. Picard has taken the sting out of it, because now Nemesis has gone from being "The End" to "We're gonna to take a little break, so don't nobody go nowhere."

"Genesis": Let's get one thing straight. It's "devolve" not "de-evolve"!;)
As for the episode, the less said about it the better...

To be continued

DS9-Visionary. A WTF! episode, similar to TNG episodes like Time Squared. Well directed with decent incidental music.

The 37s (VOY) - this one is really pretty good. Although perhaps the coincidental discovery of a human colony in the direct path of Voyager deserved a bit more comment from the crew, the concept was handled well and it is a great 'exploration' episode. It has a touch of Doctor Who in its idea and execution.

"Journey's End": Wesley did to Picard what Picard did to an Admiral a few years later and for pretty much the same reasons (Insurrection). What's good for the gander is not always good for the goose, apparently.

"Firstborn": Old Alexander killing the young one. That's some major time paradox there...

"Bloodline": Jason Vigo must be relieved, he may keep his hair.

"Emergence": Yeah, the computer first tries to kill you then does all sorts of weird things with a complete disregard for the lives of the crew but let's just play it out and see where it goes.

Forget that only a few years before the Enterprise's sister ship has blown itself up after having been infected by a virus!!!

"Preemptive Strike": At last a two-thumbs-up episode. I knew they could do it! Michelle Forbes is magnificent!! The story is interesting, involving and humanely very plausible.

"All Good Things...": A fun finale with lots of things going on with some inconsistencies though, like since the anomaly grows in the past, it should have existed before Picard created it not after... Anyway...

"Caretaker" (Voy): Note how everyone that openly hates Paris dies during the transfer. It seems like a curse. The first time I watched this episode I had seen a few episodes of the third season, so I knew that anyone with an unfamiliar face was gonna die during the episode.

Meridian DS9

OMG absolutely abysmal. "Trek character falls in love for one episode" is always awful. But, Jadzia's love interest comes off like a weird creep-o, and the B-plot about Quark trying to create a holosuite program out of Major Kira is even more creep-o.

45 min of my life I can't get back. Horrible.

Maybe the moral of the story was, don't be a dick to someone based on what you've read in their personnel file?

I had a hard time getting the image of Kira's body with Quark's head out of my mind.:rommie:

"Defiant" DS9

Great episode. Reminded me of TNG "The Wounded" a bit. Is there a better, more nuanced antagonist (I can't say "villian" any more, because it's apparently too narrow and offensive a term....I got yelled at for that last week) in Star Trek?

Meridian is one of those episodes where you ask, "What were they thinking?" I thought it was Star Trek's most pointless romance of the week. The DS9 writers were struggling to find stories for Jadzia and it shows. I enjoyed the B story because Jeffrey Combs plays slimeballs with such relish. Quark is quite the unscrupulous pornographer in this episode.

Fair Trade - I had a goal to get to Scorpion before Thursday, and then this last weekend I got into kind of a "I don't want to watch Star Trek" funk, plus being tired for some reason. That goal is not going to happen, but the rewatch continues. As for Fair Trade, Neelix could have saved himself a lot of trouble by just talking to Janeway at the beginning. Other than that it's a good Neelix episode.

I know how that goes. Leading up to Picard, I found out the hard way that you can only go through so many of them in a row so often.

Yeah. I wasn't really needing to watch episodes before Picard, basically because I grew up on Voyager and pretty much know the episodes very well, but it would have been nice. I leave for a trip a week from tomorrow. Maybe I can finish the season before then, but if not, oh well.

Alter Ego - Nice little episode about loneliness and isolation. It kind of shifted gears from being a Kim episode to a Tuvok episode though, but Tuvok is a much better character so I'm not really complaining much.
