Because swearing is so barbaric and dystopian. That is why modern humanity swears. We are nothing but a bunch of barbarians, completely unredeemable in the face of GR's utopian vision. The fact that Star Trek reflects the uncomfortable nature of humans means that is complete wrong.I never really understood why people get so hung up on swearing in Star Trek. I'm fine with it as long as it's not just swearing for swearing's sake.

I live near Seattle. I don't need such videos.[Considers posting images or video from Jan. 6 as confirmation...]
Gene must have been squinting all those times that we could see them.... wait a minute. Zippers are against Gene's Vision too.
Gene had a Vision. No one ever said it was 20/20.Gene must have been squinting all those times that we could see them.
This is the 50th time you’ve brought this beating-a-dead-horse topic up, and this is the 50th time I’m going to ask you this question: Please enlighten us all as to how you would have had Picard dress?
(And just for the record, you never answered me the last 50 times I asked you.)
I guess you didn’t like it when Data said ‘oh shit’
Get over yourself. The only reason they didn’t swear is because of network rules. A few fucks isn’t hurting anyone.
They are using it just it just to use it now. The lexicon is 20th and 21st century. It's out of place in star trek and violates canon.

Lmao no it freaking doesn’t. Get over yourself. They are using it just it just to use it now. The lexicon is 20th and 21st century. It's out of place in star trek and violates canon.
Because they wanted to swear more which Trek largely doesn't.Somewhat unrelated, I have always liked when shows have made up future slang. BSG and Firefly did it. That's never really been in Trek though.
I would say it's more "I don't like it." There is a weird obsessive nature with canon that somehow dictates enjoyment in a way that strikes me as very...strange.At this point most complaints about Trek canon boil down to: "I just don't pay attention."
