Okay, I really hope this sentence in the HR article is erroneously phrased: "all but three of The CW’s 11 scripted shows (The Flash, All American, Riverdale) will be able to stream on The CW’s website and streaming app, CW Seed." That seems to be saying I won't be able to watch The Flash on the website anymore -- huh??

The article explains how The CW was able to produce such a remarkable concentration of long-running cult/genre shows -- because they didn't have to turn a profit the usual way, so they survived when they would've been cancelled anywhere else. It's really amazing how few scripted shows they cancelled -- an average of only 3.3 per year until this year.

I suspect that is why all of this was so surprising to some people . The CW was seen safe place where shows were protected. But honestly a few of these shows would have been canceled years ago by older rules.

Even WB and UPN which was the precursor to CW was quicker to cancel shows. Birds of Prey got only 13 episodes. The original Roswell got only 3 seasons but more episodes vs current show got 4 seasons shorter count. But I imagine both those older shows got much bigger numbers than their current equivalent series.

To be fair, it was a pretty bad show. It didn't really deserve more episodes. Although that was largely due to the network meddling in the show and pushing for changes that made it worse, like marginalizing two of the three BoP. But it certainly had other problems as well.

i don't think that was the actual reason for cancellation...just the reason for the TIMING of it.

I am pretty sure that Discovery had people already analyzing things before the deal was even finalized. They may have considered renewing it, but the rental fee would have made a great excuse to jump ahead and do it.

Don't forget...they also cancelled CNN+ when it had JUST STARTED a month prior. i doubt that move was also as random or as petty as it seems.

it's not like either show was being touted very strongly by the LGBTQ+ community. If they didn't care, i don't think the general public would miss them either. (As opposed to hardcore fans, of course)

Finished season 7, and truly bummed out we won't be getting a finale for that set-up.

Legends wasn't as good as it used to be, but the quirky humor and loveable characters really kept me engaged by it, unlike The Flash for example. Still need to find the energy to keep on watching really. I might just not.

As long as there are still Arrowverse shows in production, there's hope that we'll see the Legends again. After all, the Arrowverse has brought back cancelled characters before, notably John Constantine.

Let's hope so. Hell, right now I'd be ok with just a made for tv movie to wrap up the storyline. Except for The Flash, which Arrowverse shows are still going?

Superman & Lois is the only other surviving show that's nominally on Earth Prime, though it tends to avoid acknowledging the other shows. Stargirl is on Earth-2 in the same multiverse, but whether there will ever be an onscreen crossover remains to be seen. There's also the Diggle-centric Justice U series in development, but no guarantee it'll be picked up.
