This post FTW.Marijuana doesn't kill brain cells. Common misconception.
I don't use it myself but both of my older sisters and one of my younger brother use it. And guess what, they're brilliant.
My oldest is television/music/film critic for our newspaper. She also does the sports reporting on the 5 o'clock news.
The other sister is a mathematician who teaches trig/pre calc to high school and college students in Iowa.
And my little brother is a software designer who graduated from MIT.
Oh yes, they are so stupid.
I have no issue with people using it, I however get migraines from the smell so I avoid it. There's nothing wrong with it. Alcohol and cigarettes are much more harmful and deadly, and that's from my husband who's a doctor.
There's a substitute drug called "Spice" that's legal. It causes hallucinations and and seizures. Marijuana has however never been linked to such things and it's illegal in some states. Most fatal car accidents involve alcohol and it's legal. Lung cancer is one of the most common killers today and cigarette's are legal.
What does that tell you?
Are you against freedom of religion as well? Because one can hardly have a discussion about psychoactive hemp without its thousands of years as a shamanic plant.I'm obviously a minority on this issue and maybe it will become legal in some fashion, but I definitely do not agree with the idea of legalized recreational drugs.
Stop drinking coffee: hours upon hours of migraines. Stop smoking weed: Gee, I wish I had some weed. Oh well.Okay. So there is no doubt that weed is addictive, just like alcohol and tobacco.
Marijuana is less addictive than caffeine, a substance people consume in mass quantities every damn day.
Because propaganda works, and its been going on since our grandparent's generation at least. People just don't understand. Even well-meaning centrists who are for medical use, but not for jazz, really just don't know the subject. You can drive on (smoked, not eaten)pot. Safely. There is no increase in accidents. The main difference is that the stony driver goes a bit slower. Jesus Christ, we can't have that! How did that initiative fail in California? Makes no sense.

Also because, after the repeal of alcohol prohibition, a fellow by the name of Harry J. Anslinger wanted to keep his government job.. . . it was only made illegal because the timber industry was afraid of loosing profit in paper to hemp producers.
^ chocolate is the same way. Releases the same happy chemicals for people who get addicted to it. Its the same way with exercise, sex. Anything done to excess is a bad thing. Impaired is what your are when your drunk, people can operate just fine when catching a buzz off of weed.
^ varies by individual. If you are a frequent smoker, you tend not to drive in the first place unless you have to. The people who do drive, like was said before, its not like acohol, you still have musclar control, and only slightly delayed reaction. don't believe me, look up the statistics about how many deaths have been caused by car accidents, because the driver was stoned.
Uh huh, and the same thing happens when you are drunk. It's not always real though, often emotions are quite exaggerated. Some poeple are actaully better conversationalists when stoned, it lets the walls down and some people come right out.
well its known that drunken words are truthful words.

No, it begets annoyance. But thanks for trying.So.. um.. Self-Righteousness begets Self-Righteousness?I wouldn't use that language in most circumstances, too. But as people might have noticed, self-righteousness makes me more abrasive than usual.![]()
This is going to be very counter-intuitive logic, so bear with me.
Marijuana should be illegal because it is not overtly harmful.
Anything that is enjoyable and causes mental impairment needs to have a reason not to do it, or there's a good change people will do it too much.
With any other drug if you use it to excess you will harm yourself. But its impossible to OD on marijuana. It may not be very physically addictive but as with anything that feels good its mentally addictive. The longer it is legal the more people will do it, and think its not a big deal, the more the stigma fades and the more widespread it will get. Some people will be able to handle recreational marijuana use responsibly but lots of people won't.
We can all agree that being stoned all the time is a bad thing. As a society it in in our interest to keep the number of people with impaired judgement at a minimum. Drinking to excess gives you a painful hangover, or if you don't stop, kills you with alcohol poisoning. Cigarettes and caffeine don't affect judgment. Harder drugs will kill you if you OD. Marijuana has no natural mechanism restricting use, and that's dangerous.
People react very differently, some people really do say stuff that is totally out of character and is not "truthful words". Stuff they regret later and can't even understand why they said it. Or they say something that while true is not of the huge import that it seemed when they said it while drunk, lol.
