Latest acquisition!

So the argument that DS9 and Voyager were not marketed towards kids in their airings is extremely weak.

Maybe in the US, then, but DS9, VOY and ENT certainly all aired in Australia long after kids' bedtime.

TAS, TOS (in rerun syndication) and TNG were all deliberately aired in the USA in kids' or family viewing time. And would represent peaks in toy and tie-in distribution, and public recognition of those shows.

I got the hallmark Star trek ornaments for Christ mas.. I got Captain Kirk and the Tos Enterprise. And some Star trek books.

I'm not in the US, although we do get US channels here in Canada. And I remember up to 2011 the "A" network (expanded since Enterprise finished in 2005) still had its local channels, including CHRO, aired Voyager from 5-6, Mon-Fri, right before the evening news.

I got some money from family members at Christmas, and today I decided to use some of it for Trek comics and novels.
For a while I got some physical copies of some of IDW's Trek miniseries, but I never finished a lot of them. So today I got the digital versions of some issues of I never got as physical copies. I got TOS: Year Four: The Enterprise Experiment #3-#5, TOS: Mirror Images #2-#5, and I ended up getting the collected edition of TNG: Intelligence Gathering since they don't have digital versions of the individual issues.
I also decided to get the first 2 post-The Fall TNG and TTN novels, and 1 novella, TNG: The Light Fantastic, TTN: Absent Enemies, and TNG: Takedown.

The picture doesn't embiggen much. Just wondering what a "challenge coin" is?

A double-sided enamel coin/medallion supposedly received at graduation from Starfleet Academy. From Quantum Mechanix. ( http://qmxonline.com/ )

The same company did a similar coin for "Supernatural":

And "Firefly":

(Exclusive item for "Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016" remains available for purchase while quantities last.)

I'm assuming since Jaylah is on the cover, that #5 is the Boldy Go issue focused on her? I knew that was coming up, but I wasn't sure which # it was.

We saw her briefly among some cadets (in issue #1), and #5 starts a new story arc (or a one-off?), so yeah, with that lovely Jaylah pic on the (alternative? main?) cover, she'll be a focus of the next issue. Love the yellow background.

"The hit new ongoing series continues with this special story focusing on Jaylah, the breakout alien heroine from STAR TREK BEYOND! Learn the secrets of Jaylah’s past as she prepares for a bold new future at Starfleet Academy!"

I'm really glad they aren't ignoring her after Beyond, she was one of the highlights of the movie and look forward to seeing more her as time goes one.

Dayton Ward's TNG novel, "Headlong Flight", has arrived Down Under!

Also IDW's comic, "Waypoint" #3, which features a VGR story (partly as-drawn-by young Naomi Wildman) and a DS9 story.
