Last Minute Tax Do'ers

Ok, so who else has waited until the last minute to do their taxes like me :p Please tell me I'm not alone lol

Got mine done on Tuesday. Hell of a time doing it though; I was missing two W-2s from two separate shows I worked on last year that got lost in the mail when I moved in January.

Lesson learned: Never move in January!

On the plus side, I should be getting a nice refund. WIN!

I had an accountant do them for me, but I still need to mail my actual payment....

I did mine in early February. I usually do them once I get all my W-2s and any 1099s I have.

So far, I've always gotten a refund. If I ever owe money I'll probably fill out the forms once I have everything I need, but wait to file until last minute.

Got my federal refund on Tuesday. Still waiting for the state, but all that is done and taken care of. Nice to be done with my taxes for a year, even though I help my father with his clients so Tax season never really ends at my house.

Me. Every year, I tell myself the same thing, "Do it early." Every year it gets done at the last minute.

It's the same with me. I waited until the 14th and decided I couldn't put it off any longer. The other thing I do every year is neglect to write down the IRS Pin number assigned for e-filing. I can never remember my AGI either. So I get to the end of the process, realize I need that, and then have to either go to the IRS website or dig to find my W-2 from the previous year. It's ridiculous.

Have you ever thought about keeping copies of your returns each year in a filing cabinet or something so you can easily go back and look if you need to. I find that very helpful.

Have I ever thought about it? Well, of course. I've thought about for exactly the amount of time it takes me to find that number, once every 365 days or so. :)

I didn't wait till the last minute to do them, but I waited till the last minute to mail the checks. :rommie: I owe quite a bit of money this year. :wah:

Every year, our local news stations do stories about how the post office is staying open late to accept returns, and they interview people who have waited. I don't understand waiting. The day I get my W2, I file. It doesn't take long, and since I do it in late January, early February, it doesn't take more than a week to get my state and federal refunds. Waiting until April 15th is just ... silly.

Especially if one lives in a state like California, where they may or may not actually deliver the refunds they owe.

We have someone prepares ours but because it was all happening in the middle of moving, there were issues with receiving documents and we cut it a bit too close for my liking!
