None of this is sensible or so.Lanterns is moral relativist garbage. One of the creators even mentioned that someone (i.e., Hal Jordan) couldn't be "that good". Lady, if you can't respect the genre, try your hand at something else.

The correct thing to do was to "call in for back up".
Hal was corrupted by Sinestro, and John was corrupted by Hal.
Fruit of a poisonous tree,
I feel like maybe John was a prophylactic between Hal and Hal's real replacement.
He might be in a season 2 if they have a season 2. Also this is a comic book world. Nobody stays dead forever except Uncle Ben.They really destroyed the chatacter of Hal Jordan. He won't be in the movies. A shame.
Talk like that is unwelcome here. Next time I see you with this kind of personal attacks will earn you an official warning.Chuckles, if you have nothing of substance to contribute, go and pass wind; that will be a greater contribution to the world than anything you can bring to the discussion.
John was corrupted by his parents. They were shooting apples off his head and leaving him in dangerous neighborhoods.
The past almost 50 years of books, comics, video games, TV and streaming shows, and spin-off movies proves that you are very, very wrong.Well it didn't work with Star Wars as much as those others because Star Wars was never really a universe to begin with and was always small and constrained. Marvel and Star Trek are proper universes where not everything revolves around the same small group of people, so the multiple series works better.
John beat Jordan up while he was trying to charge his ring. More lives were being lost. John and his whole family think they are more deserving. Nope. They aren't. They want that ring for themselves to feel important not to help people.

Complain DepartmentThe Guardians thought John was more deserving, take it up with them.
Gotta disagree, we've gotten a huge variety of stories that have done a ton to expand the universe.Er, no. The sheer repetitiveness of all of them shows that Star Wars simply doesn't work as a Universe the same way the MCU and Star Trek do.

Yes, they wanted that ring so that their Son could escape the systemic racism they've all been trapped with. Hal wanted the ring for similarly selfish reasons, if you paid attention.

As for "destroying Hal" in this show: He was expendable. Hal is the least interesting of all the Green Lanterns and never was that well written as he should've been.
Lucas never intended to "expand" the SW universe while he was producing the OT, and did not need to, as the films were the story of Luke's journey, which had a natural beginning, middle and end, not endless, random plots and characters that ape that which the OT made famous in one way or another. OT-plus era ancillary products (e.g. the Han and Lando novels, Marvel's comic book, cartoons, Ewok movies, etc.) were exactly that, and unnecessary (other than profits) to fully enjoy the already expansive galaxy he created for the movies.Well he failed to expand the Universe when he should have. He made the storyline small and constrained and left little make a real universe with.
Critical Drinker, HeelsvsBabyface, Ryan Kinel and the other members of the YouTube White Supremacist Crew would tell you that "race has no place in a Green Lantern show", arguing that its allegedly "woke" writers injecting that into adaptations...conveniently forgetting (or being ignorant of the fact) that John's 1972 introduction directly dealt with racism and corruption's effects on his perception of Jordan being any sort of "hero", when the latter was still ideologically Right-pointing in many ways, leading to conflicts with John.Yes, they wanted that ring so that their Son could escape the systemic racism they've all been trapped with. Not where the MCU is concerned, thanks to Disney dragging RDJ, Evans and others back to the films. It matters not that RDJ is portraying Doom, I seriously doubt few in the audience are going to simply prevent themselves from thinking of Stark,or believing that ridiculous theory that Doom is a Stark variant. Sheesh.
Hence the reason comic book Jordan's peak as a character came with the radical changes brought by O'Neil and Adams at the dawn of the 1970s. Before those revolutionary stories, Jordan was little more than "hero man in a mask" with a thinly developed background and purpose. He was a textbook example of concept having more value than execution. Not long after the Grell/O'Neil revival, once again, the character lost his way, and whatever was brought out of him in that classic O'Neil/Adams run.

Systemic racism? So we're going to blame their despicable behavior on that?Plus John was born in the 1990s not the 1960s. The 1990s were nothing like the 50s,60s or 70s. So no excuses abusing their child like that.
John was born in the mid 80s, when things were still rather racist. His own parents were born either in the 60s or 50s which certainly explains their own attitudes.
The show never excuses their actions, you missed that.
The actor playing John(Arron Pierre) is in his early 30s. It makes sense he was in his 20s when he met hal for his training and his 30s when he took the ring.
I agree. In fact, I would say that my only wish for for the Star Wars series to have done more shows that were in no way connected to the characters we already know.Gotta disagree, we've gotten a huge variety of stories that have done a ton to expand the universe.
Some have this gross misunderstanding of racism and its never-ending presence and application in all areas of life, which usually begins with the erroneous notion of open racism last existing in the 1950s - 70s.Systemic racism? Nicely worded. As a white straight male, I don't see a lot of what happens until people tell me. The indigenous light skinned wife of a darker skinned indigenous man tells me that her husband has trouble being taken seriously at the hospital and not prescribed the medication he needs. My wife tells me she'd rather go to the store with the Indian immigrants that work there because they are "more serious" than be served by the white Canadian working in the store across the street. Here on this board I've read posts complaining that Michael B Jordan can't be the Human Torch because he doesn't look like his sister. I've read posts that say that Jessica Alba can't be Sue Storm because she's not a natural blonde. I've read pages of threads complaining about a season of Supergirl without people actually saying why they're complaining about it.Some have this gross misunderstanding of racism and its never-ending presence and application in all areas of life, which usually begins with the erroneous notion of open racism last existing in the 1950s - 70s.
If one does not know...he does not know.
.....
...and so we have the reactions. Its all too predictable to see people such as the cretins from Film Threat, or Jesterbelle, Nerdrotic and the others in that legion of anti-Black, astoundingly ignorant miscreants (and I will note, some of its members are not White, yet they seek to be White Wing adjacent) move with the uniformity of Olympic ice skaters the moment the topic of race in relation to the Black experience is ever referred to. Just recall many of the same deviants' similar, nuclear reactions to key racial plots in The Flacon and the Winter Soldier series. Rinse and repeat with Lanterns. If the Black experience either confuses or enrages them so much, they do have an option--an emotional kill switch in the form of...watching something else.
