I don't think people are getting what I'm saying, I'm not talking about the characters changing because of the events of the movie, I'm saying they might not even BE the same Uhura, Scotty and Sulu who went onto serve on the Enteprirse. It's possible that more than one person on Earth could be named Niorah Uhura, Monty Scott and Hikaru Sulu and that it's these SECOND people who ended up on the Enterprise!!

Okay, but that's just silly . . . .

Yeah count me in...it's just a big ass coincidence they all ended up on a Federation Starship called Enterprise? I need a swing o' rum for dat one!

But there is NOT A SCRAP of evidence that Uhura and Sulu are the same people (according to reports in this thread Sulu was refered to as a different them of "Haiku".) The onus is NOT on me to prove that they are the same characters but on JJ Abraams and Bub Orci and the Other Guy to do so WHICH they did NOT do. Perhaps on the DVD.

Yes, what are the odds that there are multiple Hikaru Sulu's who fence and fly starships? What are the chances that there are multiple Montgomery Scott's who are both Scotsmen, work in engineering, and came up with the concept of transwarp beaming? What are the chances of there being multiple Pikes who.... well, I would like to hope you get my point. The odds of there being people so similar that they share the same name, occupation, and hobbies is slim. The odds of one replacing the other by chance are even more slim.

I felt this was worth repeating. They're the same people. Besides, since you're the one making the wild claims, the pressure actually is on you to prove your position.

That's another good point, it is another HUGE coincidence that these seven people all ended up on the Enterprise and survived to the end of the movie! Just because they (or people with the same names as them) were on the Enterprise in the prime timeline doesn't mean they were all "destined" to be there in this timeline...plus where were Gary Mitchell and his hot girlfriend?

I think he could go either way. As far as TrekBBS shorts go, MB is famous for classics such as "Does anyone else hate stoners?", "Why isn't Michael Dorn in this movie?" (Trek XI), "I saw a man steal a brick today", "Why didn't JJ watch every episode before writing this movie?", and the very popular "Why did they get a black guy to play Scotty?"

However, if you want the full MB experience, you need to start where he became a household name, I think my cousin wants to fool around with me! and the equally popular season 2 My Aunt is rich!!! Advice needed.. The thread linked to you by pookha is season 3 which ended a few months back. Made out to be sort of a blog/ glutten-for-punishment real life diary, and yet always ending just in time for the 1000 post close down time.

Stop talking about my private life in this thread, PLEASE. I've read bad things about TrekBBS on another foroum called "The Trolls Kingdom" but I didn't want to believe them. Let's keep the personal stuff in Misc where it belongs and the PURE Trek discussion in here!

BUt thanks for reminded me about the early press photos showing a BLACK Scotty. Maybe it was just the camera (we know how JJ likes Lens flare so maybe he used REVERSE lens flare to make Scotty look black) or maybe they recast the role. Either way it was a step in the right direction. But if it wasn't for Old Spock saying so could you HONESTLY SAY this Simon Peggie Scotty was ANYTHING like classic Scotty!?

Yes, I can, but he's given a bit of a "mad professor" role in the movie though - making him more funny.
