Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley developing Star Trek reboot for Paramount

The third one lost money I believe. It seems their has been several efforts to try and make another one but for whatever reason, each attempt fell through and I guess after enough time they just gave up on the idea.
Their timing is just so poor. It's the same idea as the kid who wants to do the biggest prank ever or something at school and overthinks it so it never gets done.

You scale it back a little, use smaller names, lower budget, go for a base hit rather than a grand slam.

It didn't help that Paramount kept trying to screw the cast on their contracts after Beyond came out. I think the reason a fourth movie fell apart so quickly the first time was the studio wasn't willing to pay the actors what they'd already agreed to.

Which was a smart move by Paramount since Beyond bombed and they are a business.

Yup.

Pinching pennies and slow production time froze themselves right out of business. Poor handling all around.

They didn’t make that much money. They did well in the context of Trek but the studio expectations were higher than what was achieved. I’m a big fan of those films, especially the first two, and would love to have more with that cast but it’s not terribly realistic anymore.

oh ok

and same i am also a big fan of the kelvin verse movies lol

I don't know how reliable this source is, but... from IMDBpro's BoxOfficeMojo site:

Star Trek 2009
Budget: $150,000,000
Domestic gross: $257,730,019
Worldwide (total) gross: $385,680,446

Star Trek Into Darkness
Budget: $190,000,000
Domestic gross: $228,778,661
Worldwide (total) gross: $467,365,246

Star Trek Beyond
Budget: $185,000,000
Domestic gross: $158,848,340
Worldwide (total) gross: $343,471,816

Beyond didn't do as well domestically, but the total gross worldwide doesn't seem too bad for a disastrous flop.
