Jayru (JSnaith's) 3D Trek

Okay, if you look at the filming model, the space energy sensors are to either side of the lower pod, and on the inside of the support pylons. Two each, each side.
That would mess up the turbo lift shafts. That's why I moved them.

Torpedo launchers on an Oberth?!?!? That's just crazy talk! Love it!
I thought it was common knowledge that I am crazy?

It would be a blast.

The real problem is an unrealistic understanding of what Starship combat would be like.

The was giving up, the moment the Bird-of-Prey, started jamming, and no, it wasn't raspberry.

Very true. People seem to assume that's close to flying a single-person fighter - it's not. These are massive ships that require turning and manoeuvring. It's why they have multiple phaser banks that cover a wide range of angles. The only thing that comes to handling like a fighter is a shuttle, and in Trek they are always flown like they are bricks, lol.

What happened to the Grissom was pure and simple exposition. I almost feel sorry for them...

Well, this was the state of the new Laptop yesterday -

All built, pretty much all loaded up. And no, it hasn't tried to kill me yet lol

More tomorrow.

The only joy from that scene was Kruge executing the sloppy gunner for his "lucky shot" and calling him an "animal"

The Oberth remains a fan favorite because it was so well detailed but got wasted so badly just to move the plot along.

I do all my work on my laptop. The last time I actually used a desktop for my artwork or anything else it annoyed me.

Looks like you have everything that you need for it. Good work.

I broke the bezel - should have followed the instructions. A replacement is on the way. But so far, so good. I have a decent desktop PC, which does all the heavy lifting and 3D work. The laptop is more of a sidekick for when I need to be mobile (like hospital, how many times this year?) or plan on doing lengthy written stuff. In theory, I could install 3DS Max on the new laptop... But I need to keep it simple. Less distracting, so when I write, I write. But I don't think you guys and gals will begrudge me taking some time out to get it set up :-)

I had a MAX trial but atm it's too far out of my budget to actually afford. And I have a lot of MAX models I never got around to converting.

I am so used to working on my laptop that using a desktop takes some adjusting but I manage. Just prefer being on my laptop.

I was gifted 3DS Max by my dad many years back. One of the last things he did for me.

I have a good workflow between the two (when the cat isn't leaping at the damn laptop. God she has cost me so much money regarding laptops).

I find that very probing.
That's what he said.

Don’t forget the reverse-facing wave motion gun. ;)
That may be a little too much for this ship...

Updates, rebuilt the upper bridge dome and moved the windows so they conform to the new deck layout, finished off the detail on the nacelles, and other minor fixes. Just the secondary hull to detail, but here's the revised deck layout:

I don't think the pylons need to be split into decks. As well as the turboshafts there would be crawlways as well, and jeffries tubes :-)

And the updates;

The top bridge dome is rather large, big enough to hold an entire TMP module, which this wouldn't need. A standard layout TMP will fit in the middle and allow a corridor and rooms as well.

I have some decisions to make about the secondary hull details, so I want to think on them before continuing. Given the size of the ship, some windows might be a possibility on the outer rim. Certainly, some docking hatches and manoeuvring thrusters, maybe some other details. And banners, let's not forget the banners.

Comments always welcome, more tomorrow ;-)

 Heh… what I meant was I believe that slanted oval area at the back of the secondary hull (to me, at least) on the original filming miniature resembles the maw of Yamato’s wave motion gun, with a ribbed area surrounding the central inner opening. Just probably an aft-facing sensor package.
