Have a good time off, as for the ship, as usual you did a marvelous job, although I still would whip out the impact wrench...
lol, thank you!
You deserve a break buddy. You made some awesome meshes this year, and definitely some of my favorite fan designs.
Looking forward to what you're going to do in 2024. Secret wish....? A space station.
Thank you. The break I need, I think in hindsight I was beginning to burn out. I am unhappy with some of the ships I've built, and may well revisit them to fix some things that bug me. But that is for another time.
When I started last year, it was about restoring what I'd lost. I have exceeded that and then some. I don't just do 3D work, I write and do artwork as well. I need to make space - and time - for those passions. I have a writing buddy, so we were able to get back 100% of my written stuff. The artwork... Mixed bag. Maybe 50-60% of it I was able to get back. The rest? I accept it's gone. 3D, as you all know I wasn't so careful about backups with that back then, so I got 0% back. I did try and get in touch with the
Lexington fan film group to see if they could send me a copy of the mesh I built for them... But I never heard back from them. Like a lot of fan film groups they probably ceased to be after the "Axanar Debacle". Doesn't matter I rebuilt the
Odysseus and a I did a better job of her umpteenth round time (how many times did I rebuild the
Ingrams from scratch in the original WIP thread? *shudder*).
I have enjoyed this thread. I don't have plans to be away for long. A space station... That's an interesting idea. The biggest ship I have built to date (size wise) is the
Ranger Class - the most complex (poly-count) was the
Delphis Class (that sucker came in at about 200mb, I normally come in at about 55-60mb). I use the same scale for everything I build 3D wise, so a station would be massive and complex, lol. It would be an interesting challenge. I shall ponder it.
I will say I know what I am going to work on next, 3D wise. It will be a Trek ship, a Starfleet ship (do I ever do any other when I comes to Trek? Why do I never show the Klingons or Romulans any love?), it will be over a 1,000 meters in length and more then likely a pain in the backside to build. But the challenge will be worth it. I have researched the heck out of it, and have a folder full of ref material. But that's as afar as I have gone, and am allowing myself to go at the moment.
BUT...
Break first. Lot has happened in the last 18 months. The court case, which did not go well for us, although a witness for the asshole who caused me so much pain is being done for perjury, so it's possible a re-trial could happen *sigh.* My partner became an elected government official, which was a last min decision and they flipped the seat they won. Yeah them! My ticker is doing it's usual trick of "what can fail now" (new valve is on the horizon, that will be three out of the four done). Father in law... This is going to be his last Christmas. Having lost both my parents I understand what my other half is dealing with. And a host of other things happened as well. Life happened, lol. I need to shut down for a while, process and then come back with a fresh mind and refuelled energy.
I'm sure I will be lurking around on here, so no worries. Will be back soon.
As always, more laters!
