Jayru (JSnaith's) 3D Trek

I like the lighter gray version more: it's more TOS and less TOS-R (which is what the darker gray makes me think of.)

Maybe, but we should be talking instead about your cool take of the Phase II ship instead.
Speaking of which, no docking rings? Jefferies' plan for the E had that weird pentagon one and the TMP E had 5 visible ones.
The light grey is more to my way of thinking, better... and allows the ship to shine (os I hope so) when I get round to beauty shots.

Docking rings... None on any of the paper plans I have. But if you notice the red square ports on the hull, I built them as docking ports (so 4 currently).

Piff, the distraction is nice.

Now on to other news: with the funeral about to happen, and us looking after mum-in-law I won't be posting for a few days. Keep well, stay safe, and don't let the buggers get you down!

There is an intermediate state that the Enterprise was in between the original Jefferies-designed Phase II layout and the final Trumbull layout. Richard Taylor and Andrew Probert did an upgrade (because Taylor thought the original P2 miniature, originally made for TV, was too small for a theatrical release) that added the docking rings on the secondary hull, the torpedo bay and the aft bridge section (which was more box-like than what they finally settled on), as well as two additional rings on the B/C deck under the bridge. Mego's TMP Enterprise toy had these changes, thinking this was the finished look, before Trumbull did another final refit before filming:

There may possibly be a single small docking ring out on the left edge of the original saucer where the gangway door finally emerged (might just be a formation light - IDK), but yeah, I don't see anything else of the kind anywhere on the hull. Since you're doing the original Jefferies version, it definitely wouldn't be accurate to include doors that aren't there.

I had thought about adding some docking ports on B-Deck, but I prefer the windows. It currently has four docking hatches on the ship, marked, but behind hull panels. My thinking is that this was an intermediary step before the major refit of the fleet. The Sansar may have been built to these specs, rather than refit to them. Interesting thought.

As much as possible I have tried to capture the spirit of what Jeffries designed and foreshadow what we know will come.

Anyway, enough waffle from me. I will catch up with you all in a few days :-)

More work on the shuttlebay -

More tomorrow
Loving your work. One issue: Am I the only one that thinks the aft torpedo tube looks like the ship's butthole? :alienblush:

Cosmetically, maybe a different shape or stash it under a square hatch or move to another location is my thought...

Oh yeah - I forgot about those! I couldn't find any good pics of the old concept art that showed them and the ones I did find were too small and low-res.

I'm glad they moved those ports up. It would have been kind of weird docking at that angle, as the shift of gravity orientation once you walked out of the travel pod and onto the main ship decking probably would have disoriented most people to the point of falling on their face. Same thing with the upward-slanted ports on the Taylor/Probert upgraded B/C module.

I'll give it some thought.

FWIW, the plans I was referring to were the ones @Shaw cleaned up and presented here.
You can see the docking ports on the secondary hull.

I have this covered already ;-)

Few tweaks I intend to make, and then I shall play around with the aft torpedo tubes.

Comments welcome, more soon.

PS: Yesterday went as well as expected. Need to keep my mind busy, so back at this.

Although I thought the butthole comment was a bit much, this does have more detail. And it works.

I think this dish works better without the antenna, but that's me. You could mock one up and see how it works.

All I've done is changed it to a double launcher and moved it out of the hull slightly - aside from that, it's close to the, ah, "butthole" idea.

Yeah, I'll have a play with the antenna and see how it looks. Still need to refine the nacelle caps as well. It's close to being done.

It works. I thought it would be too much, but considering it's still the bronze colored dish, it works.
Also, it helps with smoothing this out as a in between of the TOS Connie and TMP Connie, if that makes any sense. Dish is more build in like TMP, but still has that TOS vibe.

Your even deck and window placements are great; makes for a balanced ship design (unlike the TOS Enterprise window spacings). The changes to the aft torpedo tubes is very nice. :techman:

I vote for keeping the antenna, for now.

Thank you... it's growing on me as well.

So, your Phase2 Connie is just gorgeous. Nuff said.

It'll be fun to see what you can do with the new Enterprise concept. But I may be really bold..... I am quite curious as to what you would come up with as THE Enterprise. Taking the Connie we all know and love, but your interpretation of it. Many have done that before, and considering your skill and imagination, I think we could be in for a treat.

The concept Discoprise? Looks like a good start.
Thank you.

That... Is an interesting idea.

To be free of constraints and do my own thing? (Which I kind of do already)... I'd take the best IMOO and bring it together in one package... An ultimate Constitution... I shall have a think about it, because I like this idea. I'd already decided to junk the secondary hull on the SNW Connie as I don't like the shape... But I can reshape that project to do my own take... This could work out very well...

I like this idea.

Thank you.

More on this tomorrow, need to have a good hard think.
