Except for that groovy up beat number from TOS.The only reason people think it's bad is because of everything that preceded it. Which is what ENT was trying to break away from.

Wrong in what way?
For me music needs to carry the visuals on its shoulders, it needs to carry the emotion of what i'm seeing. A rock song doesn't really do that for me when combined with images of ships and exploration.
No, Shatner, since "Faith of the Heart" wasn't Rod Stewart. For me music needs to carry the visuals on its shoulders, it needs to carry the emotion of what i'm seeing. A rock song doesn't really do that for me when combined with images of ships and exploration.
It totally should have been Elton singing Rocket Man then.
I guess the title song is wearing me down, because I'm not skipping past it as much anymore. But I still don't like it.
...sometimes I let the disc play through, though when I let it play through I usually get up and head to the fridge for a beer or something else.
The song seems too be about progress and moving forward against all odds. The visuals also reflect that, mankind's progress that leads them into space.Wrong in what way?
I just feel it doesn't convey they same sense of progress that the backdrop to the credits is showing. Contemporary soft rock music just does not seem to do it justice in my opinion. Then when they added the faster beat in the later seasons, it fit even less.

My problem with the theme song is that it often doesnt fit the mood of the teaser. It often snaps you right out of it.
The classical themes of the other shows dont break the mood and suggest, something "epic" is about to happen. The ENT theme lacks that.

TNG's peppy theme doen't exactly fit with some of the dire and dangerous straights teaser either. It's very up beat and march worthy rather than serious and epic.My problem with the theme song is that it often doesnt fit the mood of the teaser. It often snaps you right out of it.

That nails it- it is an OK song, it just does not say "hang on- this is about to be an epic adventure"

Nah, the TNG peppy march sucks away anything the TOS theme might have. Might as well be at a parade.TNG's peppy theme doen't exactly fit with some of the dire and dangerous straights teaser either. Yes, but the TNG opener starts out with the Alexander Courage cue that's sort of ethereal and mysterious. That bit leads nicely into Goldsmith's heroic theme. But the Courage portion gives us enough of a light breath between the teaser and the main theme so as not to completely take you out of the story.
With Enterprise, it starts off like this: The Enterprise is in trouble! The crew is in severe danger! This alien is scary! Then... dink dink-a dink dink-a dink It's been a long road...
That's the difference.
