So, just because she's snarky and was assigned to a medical ship she's related to McCoy? Does that mean House is one of McCoy's ancestors?
One of Spock's ancestors was Sherlock Holmes.
House was based on Sherlock Holmes.
House is one of McCoy's ancestors.
Spock is related to McCoy.

That b**ch isn't related to Leonard (Bones) McCoy in any way.
That's out of line. Don't do this again.

Exactly what did she say or do in your eyes that demonstrates any real warmth or charm towards others?

I didn't see anything, hence my comment. That's why. Again, what elements of warmth or charm did you see that I didn't?
Without going back an rewatching the episodes she was in to give you specifics, which I sincerely lack time for, both the two or three scenes on the Hiwatha in the season opener and the dialogue (trialogue?) in the Spore Drive Room in last weeks episodes pictured her as a very caring person. And charming too, which I agree might be to a small part in the proverbial Eye of the Beholder.

But I don't think my question was answered

Staying behind on a crashed ship to save her crewmates when everyone else evacuated? Comforting them? Refusing to leave until they were all rescued? Trying to help Tilly? Being concerned about Tilly's pain?

Didn't really see her comforting them. In fact, stating:
"Sorry I'm up to my elbows in Tellerite brains..." (given that if we're talking actual brain surgery, said patient is conscious)...

is anything but 'comforting', and might make the patient apprehensive. Her bedside manner was rather blunt and abrasive even in that scene - that said, I cut her some slack there as she WAS in what was most likely a 'we're dead' situation after 10 months' - but she's now been on the Discovery for a few weeks, yet her attitude is the same meaning it wasn't the situation she was in - it's the way she is.

If there was a line where she was comforting a patient that I missed, let me know, but I don't recall hearing one.

I doubt Reno and McCoy are related.

Also, if they met, they probably wouldn't get along at all. McCoy would probably be quite mortified at some of the things Reno did to keep those patients alive. I think she would get along great with Scotty, though.

You realize she's an engineer, not a doctor?

I didn't have any issue with her bluntness, nor do I think it precludes her from being "warm".
Again, based on what I've seen of said character; she has displayed neither charm nor warmth. I'm just going by how the writer's have portrayed her so far, and what's been shown on the screen.

and what was shown on screen was that she cared so much about the wounded crewmen of the Hiwatha that she stayed behind to keep them alive while others, IIRC, tried to flee. (I'm not sure what happened to them though, as news about the Hiwatha never reached the UFP, I assume they died)

Did she do it out of warmth/compassion; or was it either a sense of duty, or that she just wanted to again, prove how much smarter she is - since she is an engineer, NOT a doctor; but hey the Human body is just a machine, AND she reads... ??

I think she's a good addition to the show, especially as Stamets usefulness wanes.

But Discovery has a serious issue dismissing PTSD. Lorca blows up his own ship, killing his crew, and is immediately put back in the captain's chair. Tyler spends seven months being brutalized by the Klingons, and is allowed to be put right back on duty. Reno spends ten months alone, and is put right back on duty.

I agree with this. I have friends who served in Afghanistan. And at least two of them have serious PTSD. You learn how to be careful around them and to roll with their outbursts. Sometimes we've had to talk them down from something if they got too worked up. Including one particular incident when the cops showed up.

I doubt the writers would go that route, but if the writers do go that route, then -- voila! -- they are related.

I mean, in-universe there is nothing stopping them from being related if the writers want them to be, and conversely there is no specific reason to believe they are related if the writers don't want them to be.

Sadly, this is the case for most of Star Trek. I give credit to Into Darkness to actually acknowledging that a planet blowing up might impact someone! O_o
