News Iron Fist season 2

Wow, that's actually a little shocking, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, but a little disappointing, too. The second season was a vast improvement and I figured it was going to keep moving forward. I guess a lot of people didn't return after the shaky first season and didn't see or ignored the more positive reviews.

Crossing my fingers that this will allow for a proper Daughters of the Dragon series, which is what I'm most interested in anyways. Deadline hints that something might happen with the Disney streaming service, so there's some hope.

Being so perverse as to enjoy antiheroes, I quite liked Iron Fist season one. The Rand/Meachum family dynamics were the most entertaining I've seen since the heydays of Dynasty, Dallas and Falcon Crest.

Like most sequels, season two wasn't as good, particularly since the makers were so foolish as to listen to people who thought Colleen Wing was a good character. She was a weak spot in season one, with her preposterous member of the Hand who just happens---completely independently!--- to fall in love with a billionaire enemy of her denomination. She was unbelievable then. In this season, she plays Darrin to Danny's Samantha, forbidding the use of magic for reasons. Nothing could make her a gripping character after that. If you're going to remake Bewtiched, make some jokes! The fact that she no longer needed to make a living diminishes her nobility in volunteering at a community center. It's not an accident they inadvertently show her dumping Danny the second she doesn't need him any more.

Not having the slightest idea who Misty Knight was, besides a porn star name, nostalgia didn't keep me from noticing she was a zero. Colleen alone was a waste, and Misty alone was a waste, but the two together were worst than a waste, they were a drag.

In addition, backpedaling on Davos' motivations, i.e., rage at being abandoned by Danny and his city destroyed, weakened that character. So, his motivation is that he's just mean, which is dull. So what if it raises dark suspicions Danny and Davos may have had a flexible understanding of chastity as meaning, no girls, if he's fixated on Danny's leaving and Danny is all reluctant to smack him? Listening to fanboys and dumping on Danny for supposed entitlement instead of letting him be an antihero who failed his duty to guard K'un-Lun was a very bad idea. This simultaneously disappears the child abuse/cult indoctrination in a religion THAT REALLY WORKS!!!! in favor of lame self-help cliches and stupid drug addiction parallels.

As to Iron Fist being canceled? The miracle was the first one ever being made at all. Disappeared into a monastery at ten for fifteen years? Everybody can do the math...twenty five year old virgin. There was a reason they hired the Loras Tyrell actor and they should have gone with it.

There is some talk that it might get picked up by the Disney streaming service, but that seems like wishful thinking. Although, of all the Netflix shows, Iron Fist is probably the only one they could make fit tonally with what Disney wants to produce with its streaming service.

Bummer. I was really looking forward to seeing Orson Randall and maybe the Immortal Weapons. I guess I shouldn't be surprised in retrospect; this season had fewer episodes (though I think that was a factor in its improvement), was released with barely any promotion, and had barely been out for a couple of weeks before Netflix started publicizing season three of Daredevil, which is also releasing barely more than a month later.

With Disney launching their own platform with their own Marvel shows I'm not sure how much life the netflix Marvel series have left. This could be just the start.

If they had cancelled it after Season One, there would be mild disappointment because I would have hoped they could retool the show to make it better. But, after Season Two, they did retool the show. My hope is the show finds a hope on Hulu or the Disney Streaming Service rather than just have Danny Rand appear as a guest star. He's not quite at the point where he's ready for a team up, imo, and neither is Luke.

I just finished watching season 2 last night and thought it was a vast improvement over season 1. The last two episodes were excellent and I was really looking forward to season 3... then Turtletrekker cancels the series. Thanks a lot!

The fight scenes were better overall, but it seemed like there weren't that many and none were as cool as the drunken boxing in season 1. Colleen was much better in season 2 and wasn't as annoying. Could have used some more Ward. I really would have to liked to see how his character progressed in season 3. Mary was an interesting character and grew on me as the season went on. Maybe they can continue her story in future Daredevil seasons? Misty kicks ass. The ending was great.

Overall, I think it was better than season 2 of Luke Cage and I would rather have seen that cancelled than Iron Fist. I hope they just combine the two shows right away and skip a Cage season 3.

Then Season 2 must have really been good, because I enjoyed Season 1 very much. In fact, I enjoyed "Iron Fist" more than I did the first two seasons of "Daredevil" and Season 1 of "Jessica Jones".

What a fucking disappointment. We won't get to see Colleen as an Iron Fist. And I've always imagined her and Danny becoming Iron Fist together. Now, we're stuck with Matt Murdock and his man pain, who strikes more of a poor man's Batman than the CW's Green Arrow.

I mean I get the similarity, but Daredevil (especially this DD) is a lot farther away from Batman than Green Arrow. Without the money and the toys, DD is basically just jumping around and punching people in the face. And this version doesn't even agonize about his dead parents, either.

I 100% agree about not getting to see Colleen take up that role, though. I loved the season 2 ending and was really looking forward to seeing where it went. Hopefully she'll at least get to explore that some in one of the shows.

Well, the bond she and Misty have established (and Misty's parting words in season 2) create an obvious opening for Colleen to join Luke Cage on at least a recurring basis, though I'm not sure she really fits into that show's focus. A Daughters spinoff would definitely be the best option for her.

I honestly don't care. I'm not a fan of his. Matt Murdock is probably my least favorite leading Marvel Netflix character. And the network is going to push this guy forever.

I want to see her in "Iron Fist" or in a limited series with Misty Knight.

I'm not a huge fan of him, either, but he's entertaining enough (for me, obviously).

Definitely.

There would be a certain bit of historical symmetry to Danny and Colleen moving over to Luke Cage.

The original Iron Fist solo book was canceled after 19 issues. When the Iron Fist creative team of Chris Claremont and John Byrne took over Luke Cage with issue 48, literally the first thing they did was import Danny, Misty and Colleen from Iron Fist. By issue 50, the book was renamed Power Man and Iron Fist.

Claremont and Byrne spent their first three issues (48-50) systematically tying up all of Luke's hanging plot threads and phasing out his supporting cast. Power Man and Iron Fist was a fresh start all the way around. Luke originally worked for Colleen and Misty at Nightwing Restorations before forming Heroes for Hire with Danny in issue 54.

Systematically is almost an understatement. He practically kicked out all of Luke Cage's cast. Interestingly enough, he wasn't on Power Man and Iron Fist all that long and, when leaving, took Colleen and Misty with him. Fortunately, Mary Jo Duffy took over not too long after, reclaimed Misty and Colleen, and at least brought back some of Luke Cage's cast (at least as intermittent guests).
