I first watched this 3rd Doctor romp back in '93. The pbs version that I had taped begun with the doctor and sarah already back from the middle ages and in a transport to the center. Then they hop out when a dino materializes in front of the transport and the two guards get out and start shooting. A short time later, after a brief encounter with a man from the age of king john, they run back into the brigadier.
Ok, it was fine, the episode begun there, and ended after operation golden age finished at the end of the show.
But, just recently, as I was going through the entire series, i found the original start of the episode! The pbs version had cut that out entirely, and for over 16 years I had not realized that something was missing.
Are there any other instances that people can think of, where entire chunks of one of the shows are just missing or gone? I love the episode, and finding the extra first episode just makes it that much better, there was no detraction from the enjoyment. It takes Mike Yates down development that some of the unit people sorely needed.
