I voted fast-tack on Tarantino.

I really want the Kelvin movies to get a fitting final film. Send them home, whatever. However it's also their fault that they didn't plan the latter two of their three given films accordingly.

Coming up with a new script now I think would just delay the Tarantino project even further, and possibly increase the likelihood of it not happening.

Paramount's not going to give up on this franchise as long as CBS is going strong. If they have to shelve Star Trek, they'll do it only as long as they're not in danger of losing the film rights for having sat on them too long.

I voted for Ditch Thor.. story would propably suck anyways.
And I like the idea of a smaller, more cerebrial movie. Star Trek will Never be Star Wars popular, will always be a nerd t hing, Thought it has gained a bit of social acceptance that didn't exitst.
do Star Trek, not a Star Wars rippoff

Recast Pine and throw a big sombrero-party the moment JJ-Kirk fans get upset about JJ-Kirk being recast.

Also voted to ditch Thor due to story probably being pants anyway. Though if you can't keep Pine I say kill him off (promote/ transfer) over a recast. The Kelvin timeline could do with distancing itself from the prime timeline so give us captain Spock or even the cast away from the enterprise.

The story sounds a bit crap. Star Trek is more than Kirk's family dramas. We've got the Prime series of films if we want to see that. What is the point of making an AU Star Trek series if all you're going to do is retread the same old ground?

Promote Kirk and bring Decker onboard. Hopefully this time the actor they get isn’t a creep.

No, not thinking of the Newton Class.

Although EAS, the red-hulled Armstrong-Class variant excelsior concept art can be seen here - in addition to the photo itself of the Excelsior (bottom left hand corner of the image of the 1701 at spacedock):

http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/abramsverse_ships1.htm

Also - the destruction of Vulcan occurred in ST09, whereas the red-hulled excelsior is seen in STID - so if it was present with the fleet at Vulcan, it certainly got away fast and survived intact to be docked at the space dock in the sequel movie...

Both are possible but the named art was intended for ST09 not STiD. I'll agree to disagree since the red ship in STiD was never named but the same could be said that the red Excelsior was never seen on-screen in ST09. In the end in terms of reference Beta and EAS disagree. The art was for 09 but a ship of equivalency was seen in STiD. Regardless I'd never want to see an Armstrong-Type take up the silver-screen (fugly kitbash of the Kelvin like the bulk of the extras).
Cheers :borg:

Do a "Justice League of Trek," with a humongous crossover involving characters from every major crew. Weren't they throwing such an idea around at some point?

Fair enough - I can respect that.

Admittedly - ST09 concept art registery for the USS Excelsior is also different (not NCC-2000).

Although nothing like the Prime NCC-2000, I still wouldn’t have minded seeing an Armstrong-type Excelsior going on adventures, with Sulu at the helm - on the big screen.

Who knows: between STID and a hypothetical new movie, the Excelsior could have been refitted and made to look less like a kit bash, and more befitting it’s name?

Either way, I do like the red-hull of the Armstrong class starship: almost looks like a starfleet vessel outfitted with Vulcan armour / plating - the ‘Great Experiment’ perhaps?

They really should have said that was the Excelsior Kirk got at the end of Beyond rather than another Enterprise. That was the idea originally back in the day and it would have been neat to do it now.

Bringing back Hemsworth meant another time travel or space warping movie. They've done that already and it wasn't very good, mediocre at best (2009).

One good thing about Beyond was Pine. He has really come into the character being able to be serious, but still play the comedic aspect of the Kirk character. Come to a settlement and have a villain that isn't impotent or boring or a retread.

.

On the other hand, time travel has a very good track record with Star Trek. Let's not forget that the most successful TOS movie was the whale movie, while the best and most successful TNG movie was FIRST CONTACT.

And as for the TV shows . . again, many of the most acclaimed eps involved time travel: "City on the Edge of Forever," "Tomorrow is Yesterday," "All Our Yesterdays,""Yesterday's Enterprise," "Tapestry," "Little Green Men," Trials and Tribble-ations," "Future's End," "Year of Hell," "Relativity," etc.

Time-travel is as Star Trek as phasers and Klingons. :)

Star Trek 4 opens as we see the 1701-A with a massive hole near the dish, which happened the first time they took her out.

You see, there was this nexus thing that got Kirk and that's why he's not in the movie.

If negotiations work out later, he might be back for Star Trek 5. But Picard will have to go get him.

The fifth movie will really be a house afire!!!

Well, a camp fire, anyway....
