Other than the "aloof God figure" that interpretation is certainly one I have seen and discussed before. I largely agree, aside from Sarek's role.

If they can't get Pine the should end the Kelvinverse for now. Make a whole new Star Trek with new characters we've never heard of on an entirely different ship set around the year 2400.
