If Discovery is a bust...

Mark my words.

I wish I was going to be wrong but theres no way.

I can tell you right now the actors and characters are going to be absolute crap.

I don't even know where I will get to watch it(I'm in Australia)might have to wait n get on on dvd\bluray that if it does come out on bluray\dvd,the way I'm seeing it now I can say it will fail

Ahem

Well if Discovery fails, there is the Kelvin timeline. STB was good and after Wonder Woman I no longer hate Chris Pine so I'm hopeful.

Also I'm hoping, if Discovery does fail TPTB look in to some of the fan made works. Maybe hire some of them.

As for Suckitude. Discovery is no where nears the level of Enterprise. Some optimism please.

I hate to say this but I can tell you by the name of the show and the looks of the actors that have been revealed already that the show is going to be awful.

I said the same thing about Beyond and I hit the nail right on the head.

I can just tell about these things, I have a 6th sense.

Trek died a long time ago Im sorry to say.

Where did you get this blinding flash of insight from? Just because it's not a complete copy (set, costume, and design-wise) of TOS doesn't mean it's going to be a failure.

If/When Discovery fails, then CBS should lift their restrictions on fan films so that we can see Trek made by those who love and respect it. Or at least hire the creators of the most enduring fan films so that they can make a better TV series.

The people working on DSC clearly love and respect the material. I also don't think adoration for the source material necessarily leads to quality content. And sometimes ignorance of the source material can give the movie or show a fresh perspective free of baggage or preconceptions, leading to something truly special (see: Nick Meyer and TWOK).

EDIT: And even if DSC bombs and is a financial and critical disaster, you will never see CBS allow fan films to take over the reins of the franchise. That just won't happen. It makes absolutely no sense from a business or licensing perspective. This idea that fans could make a better show by virtue of their fandom alone is just...It's a little ridiculous, tbh.

They'll find a less expensive way of exploiting their IP than another live action TV series.

They're not going to turn fan films loose, because that can only diminish the profitability of the property.

Im sorry to say it doesnt take a rocket scientist to see the show is going to be trash. The characters are not intense. Look at Picard and then look at the captain of this show and how she talks. Just one example.

Im not trolling at all.Just trying to be real and insightful.

ANyway in the end you will all see how right I was.

One, the main captain is not female.

Two, how can you judge the characters from a two minute, out of context clip?

Three, what will happen if you're right?

TNG looked like shit in the first commercials, was shit for two seasons and then it got better. And Stewart didn't impress me until season 3. Until then I found him largely bland and the opposite of "intense".

All the people saying DSC is shit on the basis of the trailers are going to have a large plate of crow to dine on if the show ends up being amazing.
