IDW Star Trek Ongoing...

So, now that we've been back to the post-Nero alternate reality for a while without meeting a female Admiral Thomas.

Thus, my assumption remains that the male Admiral Thomas was introduced in "Parallel Lives" for the purpose of being a counterpart to a largely female command staff - because even in a universe of chicks the ultimate boss is a manly man.

Just got it and read it. Not bad at all. I'm enjoying the art a lot. As i said, it's not bad, but I can't but think this storyline could've been told in fewer parts. Maybe four instead of the planned six. YMMV.

Okay, I'm not reading the ongoing IDW book, but I'm considering it. The thing is, I didn't really like the new movies and those versions of the characters (the actors are fine, even great, it's the writing and the direction that bugs me).

Now, would you guys say this book would be for me, or is it too much like Abrams' movies?
For the record, I'm enjoying classic "planet of the week"-explorer stuff way more than the revisiting of known races and galacto-political developments.

^^Pick up the forthcoming omnibus of the first 12 issues and see what you think. It's about $22 on Amazon preorder, and comes out at the end of the month.

It's TOS reimagined in the style of the reboot - if you didn't like them, you won't like this any more than, say, a TNG hater would like TNG comics.

Huh. Shame. Guess I'll spend my money on old Trek comics and the occasional mini-series, then. Thanks!

Kai, I thought the 2009 film was okay...but disliked STID. Like you, I like the actors...the hardware, etc. It's just the bad writing!

*shiver*

Yet, I'm enjoying (so far) the current story arc in the comics. Of course, because I'm liking it, doesn't mean it will also be your cup of tea as well.;)

I see. Well, maybe I should just check out one or two issues and see how it goes. Thanks!

^Thanks for the tip, wish I could use it.

I've just pre-ordered #41, as it's the beginning of a new story (and apparently a two-parter, so I won't have to wait too long to see if this book is worth my money and time).
