This episode is notable in that there is aczually no reset button. The connection they made this episode to Starfleet will not be forgotten... at all.
This is a major achievement.

Nope. Just wanted to know what the situation was prior to release as to the outlook on the film franchise and such. Some films are best watched with knowledge of what was going on at the time, not only behind-the-scenes, but in the media. I watched Citizen Kane the other day (for the first time) and I read up a bit about the facts of what was going on at the time beforehand such as its unique "auteur" immunity. It really improved the viewing experience to an already phenomenal film.
As with every other film, I'll be watching it when its release date matches up with the TV episodes. In this case, it was season 2 of ENT when Nemesis premiered, and as such, I will be watching it then.
Feels pretty good. I was hoping to get it all done prior to January, but since being delayed to May, I now know I will finish everything before then as well as allow for breathing room to refresh before DSC premieres. I'm excited!
LMAO.
I will begin preparations to be disappointed at once.
This is a major achievement.

Well by God, if this ain't the best Star Trek they've put out on the big screen since the original crew sailed home into retirement...
I had been meaning to watch this film for quite a while. I had heard great things about it from everyone... so what better way to watch it than to tie it in with my full watchthrough of the Star Trek franchise!
I loved it. You can see the obvious mockery that goes on throughout the movie with Tim Allen doing his best William Shatner impression and Alan Rickman playing a Leonard Nimoy not too far from his "I'm better than this campy sci-fi schlock" phase. It's a work of love from fans of the shows and feels like a lesson in making good, simple, fun and fresh Star Trek which, by this time, was quite a tough endeavour it seems for the powers that were.
It's a brilliant satire and one that every fan and non-fan alike should watch, I was laughing non-stop. The idea that the ship and the heroes were saved simply by the fact that there were fans who understood the scientific principles on which the ship worked was wonderful.
It's a funny satire as well as a touching tribute to the actors, fans and series as a whole.
NEM is underrated. ENT season 2 picks up notably in the 2nd half (from ep 15 'Cease Fire').Season 2 of Enterprise and Nemesis? You poor, poor bastard. That's the absolute nadir of both the TV and Film franchises.
There is a subtle tie-in to season 4's Andorian arc.nemesis can be socked in anywhere. It has no connective tissue whatsoever with Enterprise.

...just finished TOS on Sunday, and after starting TAS the same day, I finished that too just 15 minutes ago.
I guess you could say I've been promoted from geek ensign to geek lieutenant junior grade after all that.
As a 15-year-old who's never watched a show over ten years old, it wasn't the easiest. What first drew my attention to this show was J. J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' (technically my "journey through all Star Trek" began much earlier than October, but I don't think this counts). It was fun, cool, and felt like Star Wars, something I'm a huge fan of. I watched 'Star Trek Into Darkness' not too long after, not as good, but still a pretty cool action flick.
I never gave Trek much thought before this, but my dad was a fan of TOS back in his childhood, and told me I'd love it. And since I enjoyed the movies, I thought "what the hell, let's give it a shot". I got Netflix, got a proxy to change to American Netflix, and started TOS.
Here I am now.
I can sum it up as... good. I appreciate how special it was for its time, I appreciate the impact it made on pop culture and just how progressive it was for a show airing in the 1960s, but fuck me if it didn't feel very dated at times. Most of the time I was able to get around that, but some episodes were just.. ugh. At worst, very campy, sometimes sexist, or just kind of repetitive "monster-of-the-week" stuff. Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of great episodes, ones that I really enjoyed, but there were times where I felt like moving right on to TNG, mostly throughout Season 3. Also, I one way or another ended up on my phone while watching most episodes (pacing wasn't very good TBH). Boy, that season was a drag. Three or four real good episodes, tops.
The positives definitely outweigh the negatives though. The chemistry/relationship between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy is a lot of fun, and there was some character development in that regard. When you look at the show and compare it to others of its time, it deserves all the praise it gets as one of the greatest sci-fi shows ever made, if not the greatest.
The Animated Series, well, I guess you could consider it year four of the five-year mission. While it's probably even harder to watch than TOS for its even more dated look (despite being younger than TOS) and shocking animation, it has some good episodes/stories in there, and with only 22 episodes of 24 minutes length each, you can breeze through them all in a week or less. Also, 'The Counter-Clock Incident' is a much more satisfying ending than 'The Turnabout Intruder'. I mainly watched it for completionist purposes.
I ordered the 'Stardate Collection - Movies 1-10' on Blu-ray a few days back to watch over Christmas, and I'm super excited. I think I'll go TMP, TWoK, TSfS and TVH, and then move on to TNG. Reason being I'm watching in strict order of original air date.
It feels like I'm almost finished the starters, and it's time for the main course. I've been super excited to watch the original films for a long while now, I've been hearing about how amazing TNG is, as well DS9 being as good, if not better, to some, so... this could be a large main course.
Anyway, might be a pointless post to some, not needed, but I just really wanted to share that.
Thanks for giving it a read![]()
Because mindless hate is acceptable if directed against an agreed-upon target.Even on TrekBBS you're not going to find many people agreeing with that.
No, it's because it's terrible.Because mindless hate is acceptable if directed against an agreed-upon target.![]()

I just discovered your post. You started your brand new Trek watch the day after I lost my brother -- my comrade-in-Trek-arms -- last year. I am finally a little emotionally stable... a year or so later, and I decided to help myself along my recovery by doing the same thing you did, except I'm an ooooooold fan and this'll probably be my umpteenth trek through, err, Trek
Gonna read through your thread a bit here. Hope you've continued your watching and posted some reviews...?
Yeah ... but your counter argument to me was "Not many would agree with you", which is not really a legitimate point. It's not a valid argument. If you liked a generally disliked project, fine, great, glad someone got enjoyment out of it. There's nothing wrong with that. That's no reason to claim everyone who didn't is "mindless". Neither is siding with the majority opinion on a project.
Couldn't agree more. It is the best Star Trek movie from the TNG movie era. Never Give Up, Never Surrender! It's sad really, TNG on the big screen could have been so much more.Galaxy Quest

ENT 2nd half of Season1 + 1st half of S2 are just mediocre. Not bad like TOS S3 or TNG S1, but they are mind-numbingly boring and uninspired like TNG S7 and VOY S2.NEM is underrated. ENT season 2 picks up notably in the 2nd half (from ep 15 'Cease Fire').
Thinking about that, I don't know that we can really compare. In GQ the characters are all really on one level (except maybe the geek), whereas with TNG the characters all have assigned roles and areas of the ship, which means their main dramatic function is delivering exposition to the captain. Even when they;re all together, the characters tend to be restricted by the formality of their relationships. Getting that ensemble feeling in TNG often required bending the format somewhat. That's my theory anyway.Couldn't agree more. It is the best Star Trek movie from the TNG movie era. Never Give Up, Never Surrender! Thanks for the nuanced view. I agree with your description, although of course there are a couple of bad eps in the good stretches, and some good eps during the more painful stretches. A couple of the bad eps are really bad, but there are a few standouts as well, that can stand with the best of Trek.ENT 2nd half of Season1 + 1st half of S2 are just mediocre. But I'll grant you this; I don't understand how a Trek fan could like STID but hate NEM.

The main takeaway should be that ENT is inconsistent. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get: Some of it is delicious, but some of those nuggets are actually turds slipped in by disgruntled employees.
