I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke 2?

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I think i'm one of the few who liked Pepsi Blue...
They did have it here in Europe for a limited time a couple of years ago...

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I was never able to find Pepsi Throwback. Maybe it will turn up now that they're selling it on a regular basis. I'd love to try it....

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

a friend of mine couldn't have dark colas, he kept wishing they'd bring Crystal Pepsi back cause he hated sprite

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I live in Northern Europe. Sadly they do not import many things from Mexico here.

Oh. Well, there are other countries that don't use HFCS Coke, too. Actually, it was my understanding that the United States was the only country that had HFCS Coke and Pepsi. I'm surprised to hear that it's inflicted on other places that don't have our wildly undervalued corn prices.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I drank the Coke made with "real" sugar when I was traveling in Africa and wow it was good. But I don't know if I've ever tasted Coke 2 - maybe they did not market it in Europe?

I was at a market that sold it in a glass bottle even, it tasted the same to me.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I prefer the sugar pepsi better than the current pepsi as well. What I would really like to see return is Pepsi Blue. So artificially good :p

We kinda have it in Canada. Our soft drinks definitely have a more natural taste than yours (every time I'm south of the border I have trouble because all the soft drinks I normally buy taste bad to me), but they're not all-natural, either, thanks to the "Glucose\Fructose". Pepsi Throwback definitely tastes better to me than regular Canadian Pepsi, which, in turn, tastes better to me than regular American Pepsi.

I'd love for them to bring back Crystal Pepsi. I may have been the only person that liked it, but it was freaking awesome!

Saturday Night Live did a great parody of it too; Crystal Gravy, even with the Van Halen-style theme song.

New Coke was ok, but I was glad that they brought back the original formula.
I loved it. The best way to enjoy a Crystal Pepsi was to put the can in the freezer until it got slightly slushy.

You should be able to find windshield wiper fluid at most gas stations.

If you ask around, there's probably a place that sells real-sugar coke, either kosher or imported from Mexico, in your area.

Fortunately, there are a lot of places around here that sell "MexiCokes." It really is quite a contrast in flavor.

Dublin Dr. Pepper is good, too.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

^Dr Pepper is also putting out a throwback version this year, which is basically the Dublin version with wider distribution. :techman:

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

About 90% of the soda I drink is Cherry Pepsi. Add in a few Mr. Pibbs and some 50/50.

As far as throwback flavors, the Mountain Dew version is more like throw-up. Almost no carbonation in the ones I tried.

I remember when Coke2 came out. I was never much of a Coke fan, so that stuff was OK, especially since we only had access to Coke machines in boot camp.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I can remember when New Coke first came out. I remember when those delivering papers also had the job of delivering samples, so each house would get one can. There was so much hype for it. And then people tasted it. The rest is history. For a long time though, they still kept selling it even while they brought back the newly renamed Coke Classic. Anyway, I doubt Coke would want to relive their marketing horror, which is considered to be one of the biggest marketing disasters in history.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

Ironically, New Coke performed well in taste tests. It was the fact that they replaced the original formula with this new flavor that caused the backlash. Had it been introduced as a separate variant, it could have sold on its own merits (or not), but it was needlessly hampered by the baggage of replacing the original formulation.

On the other hand, some believe it was a brilliant marketing move to get people clamoring for the original flavor again. Sales of Coca-Cola Classic were actually higher after the New Coke debacle than they were before it. Still, seems like much too great a gamble to have been the real plan.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

New Coke won taste tests the same reason Pepsi wins. Sweetness tastes great for a little shot, but it starts to be bad for a whole drink.

Comic books do this all the time. It seems to result in short-term gains and long-term losses.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

it should be a message to Coca-cola that MexiCoke is becoming more and more available in the U.S. and the demand for Pepsi Throwback was high enough to make a limited edition drink a regular thing, that message is People don't want HFCS in their drinks

I love Dublin Dr. Pepper. There's a place around here that's even got it in their fountain.
