I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke 2?

If you don't know (and I can't imagine why you wouldn't), Pepsi Throwback is a product that at first was supposed to be "limited time only" but because of great sales Pepsi decided to sell it regularly for the time being. It's made with real sugar as opposed to the artificial sweeteners they use now. It's really quite good...well of course it is, it's the classic Pepsi we're used to!

So that got me thinking. Coke should totally bring back Coke 2, if only for a limited time. I know I'd snatch that shit up quickly, more out of curiosity sake than anything else...I cannot for the life of me remember what it tasted like. In fact I'm not even positive I ever had it.

As an aside, did anyone here have it? And if so how did it taste? I heard it tasted more like Pepsi than anything else.

I don't drink soda anymore, havent in over 15 years. However back in the day, I liked Coke 2 way more then regular Coke. I was sad when they went back and discontinued New Coke.

NO! Just no.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I don't like Pepsi Throwback or *any* Coke...

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I drank the Coke made with "real" sugar when I was traveling in Africa and wow it was good. But I don't know if I've ever tasted Coke 2 - maybe they did not market it in Europe?

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

If you ask around, there's probably a place that sells real-sugar coke, either kosher or imported from Mexico, in your area. There's a nearby Costco that has it, here, and at least one other store, since a restaurant around had Mexican Pepsi and Diet Coke and other things that that Costco didn't stock.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I live in Northern Europe. Sadly they do not import many things from Mexico here.

But the kosher .. that might work.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

Yeah, Pepsi Throwback is nice. Coke 2 would be a novelty item, though. They couldn't possibly continue it because of the ridicule. Plus, it doesn't have the same selling point, since it also doesn't use real sugar.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

I tried the Mountain Dew they made with real sugar a while back. It actually wasn't as good as HFCS Dew, for some reason. Maybe my palate has just been ruined.

Re: I love Pepsi Throwback, it's such a great gimmick, so why not Coke

^Mountain Dew is supposed to taste like chemical sludge anyway.

And by "Coke 2", are you referring to that abomination from 1985? That shit was awful. Just awful. That's when I became a Pepper.

Yeah, it also went by the name of New Coke.

My second question in the thread really wasn't answered yet. What exactly did Coke 2 (or New Coke) taste like?

I'd love for them to bring back Crystal Pepsi. I may have been the only person that liked it, but it was freaking awesome!

Saturday Night Live did a great parody of it too; Crystal Gravy, even with the Van Halen-style theme song.

New Coke was ok, but I was glad that they brought back the original formula.

I barely remember Crystal Pepsi. Mostly because I never really drank it, only had a sip of it from my mom. She seemed to enjoy it ok.

I remember it being a lot sweeter. Sweeter than Pepsi.

And even the re-introduced "Classic" version never got back to the original flavor, because it was during to the New Coke debacle that they also switched to HFCS instead of sugar, which was, of course, part of why New Coke was sweeter. You'v got to get the kosher coke to know what it tasted like pre-1985.

Then you had yourself a little sip of heaven. :techman:

I was seriously addicted to that stuff. The day my stockpile ran out, I was heartbroken.

I would have loved to have tried Crystal Pepsi.

Come to australia, we use real sugar in our Coke! And real aspartame in our diet Coke, LOL
