Hi all, I've recently started moving into the Stargate universe. Saw the movie many years ago but never did pick up the series. Probably just as well I didn't, I was shocked to find that it came up to 10 seasons. Okay, I was probably sleeping back then but I was kinda distracted by other SF stuff.

I was aware of SG-1 but it was hovering at the bottom of the radar.
Anyways, wading through the episodes currently. I like it. Good cast, good stories, not cheesy, not campy, no misuse of chars just to tiltilate, no overdepressive atmostphere and good injection of humour now and then. The ep Window of Opportunity is definitely one of my favs, although the theme of time loop is jaded, still, it was humorous.
I've to say though I felt like kicking the char O'Niell sometimes. He made the most irrelevent comments when he shouldn't and also made a couple of bad calls. But he's definitely a fun char.

Samantha "Black Widow" Carter ... hehe, that was exactly what I was thinking of as the eps went by. What was with the guys falling over like ninepins for her and straight into the grave?

I laughed when I read the cast gave the char that nickname. Another excellent intelligent female char in the SF universe. Jackson and Teal'C. What would they be without these 2 fellas?
I've skipped several eps that seemed safe to jump over. Emancipation is one, I read the brief synopsis and didn't like what it entailed. As the seasons progressed on and one System Lord went down after another, I started to wonder just how many names the writers were gonna pull out of the hat because I was starting to go crosseye from trying to slot which adversary was coming up on the scope into its correct slot. Until I decided it didn't matter what they were called, they're all snake-thingies that had to be taken down.
I'm currently on season 9 disc 4 : Ripple Effect. Most likely to get Stargate Atlantis after SG-1 is completed.
