I am willing to bet that Q will be the villian in Trek 2.

Come on, those Klingons looked good.

JJ Klingons are not bad, but could be better:

Again, Yevetha, please don't hotlink pics from websites or blogs belonging to other people. If you want to post them as inline images, they really do need to be hosted on your own webspace. (Photobucket, Imageshack and other services have free image-hosting accounts. It'll only take you a minute or two to register for one.)

I thought Khan was gonna be the bad guy in Trek 2

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

/Darth Vader in Episode III

And just to further express my point:

And he means it! He'll go all whiny and emo on you! :p

Because they don't want you to steal bandwidth, but are okay with you stealing content and hosting it on your own webspace.

As Jarod says, it's about not using someone else's bandwidth to post your pictures. While bandwidth costs aren't what they once were, it's still considered good form and common courtesy to host on your own account any images you post.

(emphasis mine)

Jarod, the very first time you raised this issue (stealing content and/or copyright infringement supposedly inherent in the hosting of images) two or three years ago, I believe I advised you that questions or arguments on the subject of board policy should be brought up in the Questions, Suggestions & Feedback forum, where they might be properly addressed by TrekBBS management. To the best of my knowledge, you have not yet done this, choosing instead to make of it a recurring harangue, posted in threads in other forums (we'll leave aside for the moment occasions in which you've accused forum mods of actively advocating criminal behavior.) This leads me to conclude that you're not really in favor of seeing a change or improvement made to board policy (over which individual forum mods have limited influence) but are instead primarily intent upon being an irritant or annoyance.

I suppose that could qualify as low-grade trolling on your part but, given the repetitious nature—what you've been doing is posting effectively the same thing, over and over—I think a spamming warning ought to do nicely.

Comments to PM, if you please.

Why on Earth would Q be in this movie? He has nothing to do with TOS, and the general moviegoer wouldn't know who he is anyway. That's not how you get Joe Q. Public's ass into a theater seat.

The general moviegoer didn't know who Khan was, either ... or any other villain in any other movie. Even standalone movies sometimes have a backstory that is being explained during the movie. One wouldn't have to be aware of the entire history of the Q to understand what's going on, but the fans would appreciate such a backstory.

Exactly. When Wrath of Khan was released, the reviewer from People Magazine wrote that Ricardo Montalban was "hilariously miscast" as Khan. Obviously this reviewer had never seen the TOS episode, and if a professional reviewer, who should be expected to do a minimum of research about their subject, didn't know the origin of the character, the average moviegoer who isn't steeped in Trek lore certainly won't.

Perhaps he meant both times?

:guffaw:

To the topic: NO NO NO NO.. NO Q and NO super power immortal beings of any kind! De Lancie was lovely but it's such a tired theme. I want to see the Enterprise dealing with mortals with agendas.

I do not want to see Immortal god like beings learning something from humanity ever again.

Again with the Klingons! I'm so very, very tired of the Klingons. Personally I could do without them in the movie as well.

Yes I share you're mental anguish. I was at the Vegas Con last year and the panel for the new movie said Klingons will be in the movie. I told them that using the Klingons was like beating a dead horse. DS9 used them way too much and ENT portrayal and retcon didn't really add anything to the conversation Trek besides the lack of ridges cause. The guy on the panel agreed with me but he said the Klingons were a "dead horse that hadn't been beaten in a long time".

I'm whatever about it but if they have those stupid Darth Vader masks they had in the concept art and deleted scenes of Trek 09, I'm gonna shit and boo as loud as i can in the theatre.

When did JJ or any panel with his people say Klingons are definitely in the new Star Trek feature? I wrote about Klingons being in the movie months ago and no one said anything.

The Amazon Women of Sigma Draconis VI are stealing brains of Vulcan refugees from the first movie.

How does one tell? He has a limited range of expression. ;)

No kidding. He doesn't even look unamused. It takes real talent for a presumably sentient being to have an expression that blank. :rommie:

...sorry, what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, Klingons. Definitely Klingons.

Asking "will there be Klingons" is like asking "will there be women".

I don't know about that. Klingons, aside from Worf, were not even seen in three of the four TNG features.

I would love for Klingons to be the villians. We need some old-school down 'n' dirty Klingons like in the best of TOS movies.
