Well, let me put it this way:
Sexual favors may or may not be involved.

Which tropes (besides the "bumpy-headed aliens" and technobabble) do you mean?Right, and the reason they didn't do it right is that they approached it as a TNG rehash, falling back on old established tropes instead of creating their own that were unique to the premise.Speak for yourself. There's a hell of a lot of stories yet to be told in the Voyager universe. The problem is that TPTB just didn't do it right.Nobody wants another TNG rehash like Voyager.

I don't want any series that takes place in the past. Either we get situations where we know how they're going to turn out, or we have to bring in ridiculous time travel stuff.
I wonder--would we still want to have our primary cast be Starfleet?
Was that a particular TNG problem?Reset button.Which tropes (besides the "bumpy-headed aliens" and technobabble) do you mean?Right, and the reason they didn't do it right is that they approached it as a TNG rehash, falling back on old established tropes instead of creating their own that were unique to the premise.
Narrow view. And, no, it doesn't mean you have to do time travel stories.I don't want any series that takes place in the past. Either we get situations where we know how they're going to turn out, or we have to bring in ridiculous time travel stuff.

I don't think I care anymore. Enterprise already didn't catch my interest. Not interested in prequels or reboots. The thread title says it all.
Be interesting to have a Stargazer series that included Picard, but he was mostly kept in the background.
A modern version of Lt. Leslie, usually seen but rarely heard.

Not very desperate. Or at all, really. The thread title says it all.
I don't think Trek can be viable on TV anymore. SciFi of any sort was always a niche market, but now Trek would have to be up against reality shows that cost nothing to produce. Having an expensive scripted show appealing to only a niche market would not work economically.
I mean, only a few years ago, a zombie series based on an indy comic book would have sounded about as "niche" as you could possibly get . . . .![]()
Desperate? Not really desperate... But I do long to turn the TV on and see a new Star Trek series.
