Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

Woohoo, the Sens won!

So far, a perfect record! Remember how shaky they were in the first few games of the season last year?

I just hope they don't peak too early or anything.

Nah, this'll give them a chance to slump in the middle of the season and get back on track by the playoffs.

My Oilers lose again. But it was Minnesota so it wasn't surprising. Gagner didn't play tonight. I'm guessing it's cause they didn't want him getting smushed by Boogard?

Yeah, i didnt even bother watching the whole game. Mind you i had that dreaded homework thing to take care of but thats besides the point.

Sometimes i figure if i stop watching theyll start winning ya know?

Nice to see the Sharks start the season on a good note on the road. Looking forward to the home opener which seems to have taken so long to get here.

NHL Center Ice Online question

I just found out that you can subscribe to NHL Center Ice Online and was wondering if anyone here has tried it. If so, what was the quality like? From the sounds of it it might be better than what I get from my Slingbox. I'm particularly intrigued by this feature:

Watch up to FOUR games simultaneously in "mosaic mode"!

Re: NHL Center Ice Online question

A bunch of us student staff here in my rez are splitting it. Quality is okay, it can be a little difficult to read the time counting down at the top. The mosaic mode puts them all in small screens that are hard to see, but you can enlarge one game to the full screen.

Re: NHL Center Ice Online question

Typical losing month of October for the Flames. When November rolls around, everybody's going down.

Re: NHL Center Ice Online question

Tonight's Flames/Stars game isn't televised here, but I could a hear a sonic boom on the radio in the backgrond when Mathiew Lombardi rushed to score just now.

Just FYI.

Flyers beat up on Canucks pretty badly :D
^ No shit... I was shocked when I saw the score.
Flyers are a 'rebuilt' team and nothing like last year's team. For that reason their low ESPN power ranking is rather ridiculous. That said, I hate it when they take 'beat up' literally and play like Broad Street Bullies of yore. Two nasty hits by two players this early in the season is not okay.

I also wish I could watch these games instead of reading about them afterward. NHL Center Ice, you say?

But fighting is different from slashing a guy on the face with your stick, or leaving your feet on a hit and nearly paralyzing someone.

what will it take to get respect back in the game?

I saw he got 25 games. it's a good start.

if I were commissioner, it would be the longer of the two: 25 games or until the player you've injured is back.

it's chicken-s

Yeah. I just watched the hit. The puck wasn't anywhere near him; he just decided to cross check the guy in the face. Dangerous, stupid, disgusting, inexcusable - he's lucky to get off with just 25 games.

I missed that hit in the game. That actually is disturbingly dirty. I like the Flyers being a physical team and I like when they get in fights, but to have two players get long term suspensions because of cheap shots is not good. It reflects terribly on the team. Hopefully the Flyers can shape up, since that's not good.
