I have to give this episode a Below Average.
After the last 2 episodes which I enjoyed, this one was a disappointment. What exactly happened in this episode? I can't think of anything of consequence.
Probably the most useless story was the Hiro and Ando convince the bride to call off the wedding plot. What was the whole point of this? Ando gets kidnapped then gets released. Hiro pushes away the groom and "saves the day" but never gets his powers back. What a waste of an episode for these 2. Now they're going back to the US to save Matt Parkman, making this whole detour in India a waste of time and a poor excuse to use some bad Bollywood actors. Plus, how unbelievably easy was it to convince the bride to call of the wedding? Ando: "Why are you crying?" Bride: "My daddy wants me to marry a man who is pure evil." Ando: "So then don't marry him." Bride: "Don't marry him? Why, you're absolutely right! I'll call off the wedding! Why don't I treat you to dinner at my restaurant?" In fact, it nicely foreshadowed the exchange between Hiro and the groom later in the episode. Hiro: "She doesn't want to marry you." Groom: "Well, I guess you're right" Hiro: "And release my friend." Groom: "He'll be released in the morning. Please don't hurt me you evil Japanese person." Yes, that groom was certainly a bad ass.
Then there's the Nathan storyline that involves a Homeland Security person taking over and taking an opposing view to Nathan. That is until Tracy is allowed to escape and kill a guy by freezing him, then the Homeland Security woman all of a sudden changes her opinion to agree with Nathan. Another example of NOTHING CHANGING. Really what was the point of this storyline if everything was going to remain exactly the same at the end? Plus, if Tracy is so smart that she knew somebody let her escape so that she could kill a guy, why did she kill a guy when she escaped? It really makes no sense.
Then there's the Claire storyline which consists of going against daddy and saving Aquaman from a fate worse than death (aka being drugged and tortured by Nathan, the Homeland Security chick, and that Drazen dude from 24 season 1). Oooh, I've got an idea... Let's hide at home. My dad will surely never go there. Phew, thankfully he didn't look in the closet to see stereotypical comic book guy (he wears glasses so he MUST be a nerd. A girl? What's that?). I guess the sleeping bag Claire handed him means that he'll be sleeping in her room. Kinky.
This brings us to the Sylar and Luke storyline which consisted of driving in a certain direction, eating at a restaurant, Luke finally giving Sylar his daddy's address, being attacked by Nathan's soldiers, Luke getting captured, Sylar leaving Luke and going off on his own, Sylar returning and saving Luke, and finally, Sylar and Luke driving in a certain direction. So let me get this straight: We started with Sylar and Luke looking for Sylar's father and we ended with Sylar and Luke looking for Sylar's father.
Then we have the super twist ending where HRG gets drugged at a bar and the three amigos come out of nowhere and kidnap him. Are we to assume that Peter, Matt, and Suresh have been following HRG around the whole episode, but did nothing to help Claire and Aquaman find a better place to hide?
Now that I think of it, I should have given this episode a Poor.
