Giving STO Another Try

Yes, you do not want to be on demand patching bits of the game every time to move to a new tfo or mission, just keep trying to patch the game on the launcher, and even if it fails, it will not lose anything it has already patched, just means every restart of the launcher, the size of the patch will get smaller until it is finished.

But i would look into the laptop to make sure it is not sitting with power saving on, which might be impacting the STO launcher, or possibly is there enough space on where STO is installed to patch it on your new laptop?

I've got the game up and running in the meantime and have been playing it since yesterday. Oddly enough, yesterday everything was fine but today I keep getting connection issues with the server, meaning mission don't load and I need to log in again. Then it's fine. It does patch a lot still right before missions.
I've checked my internet and all seems fine on my end. I don't recall these issues being this bad when I played STO 3 or 4 years ago.

^^Hopefully that should download the entire game to your laptop, so jumping from mission to mission or random tfo's will no longer require any more downloading of levels, just loading the levels from your SSD, which should be way quicker.............hopefuly, because 15 years later still a janky game. ha

Well I'm already playing the game so it should be fine. But I will give that a shot. Thanks!!

Holy crap! I just now noticed that there are new endeavors to acquire. Not sure when they added them, but we’re no longer limited to a 750 endeavor rank. I wonder if I can remember how to do these things…

They added these a few months ago, i was already maxed with the old one so i do them, but more really for the hope dil drops from the rewards, as i am working on my dil to zen for next Mudds bundle, or i may go for one of the legend bundles.

But these are a doddle compared to the doff system which i just recently started to get into, which i had ignored right up until a few months ago, then i saw that certain toons got some really good account wide rewards, more a ton of dil account wide, so i am trying to catch u on them.

Well, a new Mudds bundle, and quite a game changer with Universal designs now being account wide with the bundle..............now even your lowest toon will be sailing through rando elite tfos. lol

Late repost: the Gladius class has finally received a visual remodel. The registry of the lead ship U.S.S. Gladius (NX-97200) remains unchanged, though I will note the old promotional render erroneously recycled the registry from the U.S.S. Ushaan (NX-93771), lol.

There was some scheduled maintenance today, which should have ended.
I got the patch downloaded, but it keeps saying the login servers are timing out.

I've noticed they've been having periodic time-out issues this past week when trying to log in. I'm hoping they'll get all this cleared up soon.

 Wow, that is bad. I haven't seen that yet, thankfully.

There have been a lot of issues with web infrastructure lately - the most recent one with AWS that took down half the internet in the USA. I'm not sure if STO uses AWS cloud services for their platform or not, but downdetector.com is reporting consistent on-again-off-again problems out there with multiple platforms and systems. Could be misconfigurations - could also be DDOS attacks. No way of really knowing if one is not on the inside looking out.

Yeah, I'll be mid mission and for example need to beam back up...... Boom, time out and need to log in again.

Just reached level 50 and I am no longer getting free ships, I know this from playing the game years ago.
I never really got into the entire Fleet stuff, but I am aware that if I want to get more ships, I need Fleet Marks for example the Odyssey class cruiser which I have my eye on. What are good/fast ways to get Fleet Marks?

TFOs, always the best way. Random, or part of an event.

Are you in a fleet?

Right, I forgot about those...
Not in a fleet, no. I'm emersed in the game right now because I have a week off and I need the distraction. But after that I won't be able to play hours on end.

If you have time, depending on your character, hang around ESD or the KDF shipyard and you'll probably get invited to a fleet. It's how I managed it at the start.

But yeah, this game is tough to keep up with if you're busy.

I know there used to be a TrekBBS fleet. Is that still around?
