Giving STO Another Try

^^^Yeah i always thought that the ship parts that you could mix and match would still only make canon ships, so i was surprised when this was allowed, so i am awaiting lawyers from CBS to get in touch. lol

I will need to see how far this bundle lets you mix and match.

You can certainly have some fun with the mashups....i call this ship The Motion Generation.lol

So the new anniversary event strats today with a new ship reward, and along with it the removal of the games factions system, so your level 65 Klingon will now be able to fly all your fed ship and get access to all those tier 6 ship traits. :)
Plus don't forget to grab your free T5 ship coupon from c-store before it is gone today.

I'm assuming this is for PC only? XBox is still running House Shattered and I don't see a T5 coupon anywhere.

They're not removing their faction system; they're just expanding the ships each faction is allowed to fly; and you have to have a Level 65 character in the Faction for your characters to have access to ships from said other faction.

There's also still many missions and Task Force content where you still can't have a cross faction group/team. <-- I WISH they'd finally just get rid of that, but they're not.

It'll probably come to Consoles near the date they launched the Console versions.

^^If you make a disco klingon before the latest event is over you will unlock the whole factions thing on your account, after that if you miss doing it during this event it will cost you zen to do so in the future, so this is basically free to get on your account, then i think it's either 2000 or 2500 zen to unlock.

And todays freebie is a experimental X upgrade. :)

And Alienware a having a limited keys STO giveaway, all you ned it to reg with the site and claim your STO code. :)

I'm still waiting for a Monster Maroon uniform pack. They've come close with the Field Jacket, Engineer's Jacket and Vest, but not the most popular one that damn near everyone wants and would probably easily buy a stupid amount of Zen to purchase.

C'mon, Cryptic, get with the program, already! :scream:

I was hoping that we might see the lower decks uniform at some stage. Almost up to date on my main after not playing for 18 months or so. It's good to be back. These new missions are awesome.

The game has pulled me right back in and i am now leveling up charactors i have not touched in 6 years, my poor old Fed tac charactor left in the cupboard since 2014 Legacy of Rom who is still at Vice Adm level. lol

I've just finished playing through the 2 new missions, and have to say the writing and cutscenes have been good for this last story arc. It's also a good time to start a new Klingon character if you want to experience their side of the story from the (revamped) beginning, as it gives you some extra rewards through the new recruitment event, including a tier 6 "levels up with you" Bird of Prey to fly.

Oh, and in terms of uniform wish list: the movie era cadet uniform. The one that goes with the maroon officer jackets. I've too many good memories playing Starfleet Academy...

House Reborn is awesome.
Knowledge is Power would make an excellent T.V. episode for Strange New Worlds.

^ There were some people that complained about it on the official forum. I did it tonight. Lost count how many times I died. Not sure when I'll do on other characters.

I remember dying twice during this one - once in the narrowest section of the hallway after the place gets invaded, and once during the melee on the bridge against the Son of None. Not unexpected given that I went in with a level 14 captain, though I'm not sure how your skill bonuses translate while you play a different character. I also used the melee option on my hand weapon a lot. There's a section in the second mission where I died at least 4 times. You have a lot NPC companions during these missions, it helps a lot if you hang back a little and let them agro the enemies.

Playing through the Delta campaign now and, honestly, done with the Vaadwaur. Stupidly overpowered, I'm trying to do a system patrol and I'm being destroyed after about 4 seconds with that fucking Polaron assault. So close to just chucking the whole campaign and forgetting it.

Vaadwaur Are annoying, but they are still beatable. They are one of those enemies that require something different then your average DPS build, though.
Knowing how to tank and/or avoid was important if I remember correctly.

Yeah the Vadwar in space can be a pain if you don't have enough skills in hull, and if you are in a escort it can seem like your ship is made from wet paper and candy floss when they hit you. lol

In the other hand, of you are able to squeeze a decent left/right alpha strike combo out of your ship, you can destroy them also pretty easily.
Look into the good shield breaker builds.

^ I don't have any real issues with the vad these days as my top teir guy just tanks through everything, but they were a real pain back in the day, and how did we manage to get anywere in this game way back in 2010 with such weak charactors. lol

Playing a Klingon recruit to get the rewards and yes the Vaadwaur are a pain. Tips: invest in Reverse Shield Polarity. If you can't escape the bombardment with Evasive Maneuvers, hit that. Engineers should have Miracle Worker by this point so that can pop you back to full if you can't escape. Use Brace For Impact to mitigate.

Vaadwaur Heavy Artillery Ships are the bastards. Stay 7km away and use alpha strikes on them. Within 7km they trigger their "Escape Maneuver" which spawns two attack ships and hits you with Scramble Sensors (can be removed with Science Team, but the spawned ships stay). This can rapidly build a small force into a major threat.

The pain as a Klingon is they have cloak-seeking torpedoes, so one big damage boost (Ambush) is gone except for the initial attack run. Cloaking in mid-fight (a usual BoP tactic) will just get you killed.

The real annoyance is that to get the full Klingon Recruit reward, I can't skip the Dust To Dust mission. I fucking hate it. I die ALL THE TIME to the lightning traps. There's NO way to bypass them. You either have perfect fucking timing or you fail. Have Kim work out a counter after so many attempts, like they threw you a bone in the old slingshot maneuver mission and let you use the autopilot if you fucked up too much.

^^^Do you have the Fek'Ihri Gok'tad Carrier with the lost souls by any chance as i am now running through these very missions and the lost souls are just eating through the vad ships while i stay out of range, and on the ground the Nanopulse mek'leths are lightning fact and again just tear through ground enemies, i am over 1000 melee kills with them on the Delta story line alone which i was dreading. but they have been quite easy to get with theme k'leths, and as for the clocked ambush reward the beginning of the gamma quadrant Home should net you that quite quick, although i wish we could track these.
