Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

https://trekmovie.com/2019/02/08/an...future-of-spore-drive-on-star-trek-discovery/

"[Working with Wilson Cruz again] was really special. I was very, very happy for him. We knew it was going to happen, but I was very happy for him in the way that it happenes and what he gets to do with that story, what I get to do with that story. It was very, very satisfying and rich, the way that it was brought to life by the writers. If this is going to happen – that he comes back in a way – the manner that he comes back, it has to have been earned. It has to be meaningful. It has to have consequences. And thankfully everyone on board said “yes” to that. I haven’t seen everything yet, because I have seen as many episodes as everyone in the world, I have seen four episodes. But I know what we shot, and I look forward to seeing how it came together. "

After reading this, i fear that Tilly might die soon. Perhaps she sacrifices herself, so that Culber can return...

Admit it, you're just mad after clicking on 20 spoiler tags.

Yeah, that was kinda weird. We were having a fun discussion about spoilers and spoiler codes and one guy does a joke and the mods come crashing down and accuses him of spamming. It's really depressing and ruins the otherwise relaxed atmosphere here.

But anyways, disregarding that, I think this thread should allow discussion of Discovery up until the latest episode without spoiler codes. General Trek Discussion is a different animal, because there are people who don't watch Discovery, but here, we can reason that everyone either watches the show or at least follows it in some way in order to be interested in talking about it. This is a catchall thread to talk about all of Discovery in context, and I think the latest episodes should be included in that discussion.

But info from future episodes and even previews should certainly be spoiler-coded.

^ Depends on what the mods say. I'd add in a Spoiler Warning tag to the title of the thread if I could, but I can't. I don't know if it's necessary to do so. If someone jumped into this thread but was just discovering Discovery now, they'd be hit with an onslaught of S2 stuff. But if we want to talk about it, then we have a bunch of spoiler tags for first two weeks an episode is out, which can effect the flow of a post if we're talking about multiple episodes, some more than two weeks old, others not.

I guess it comes down to what would happen in theory versus what happens in actuality. The people who are posting in this thread have seen up to the current episode. Someone who's usually discovering the show for the first time normally posts a separate thread saying they're watching it for the first time and they're giving their impressions.

So, yeah, I lean in favor of putting a Spoiler Warning tag into the thread and would've done that if I were to do it all over again. But I started this thread during the off-season when it didn't occur to me.

That's why I try like the Devil to NOT annoy or pizz-off the Mods around here.
(though I too tempt the fates and push the limits occasionally)

But some folks around here apparently enjoy living on the edge daily.

Anyway...
The Spoiler thing started because that poster found something to compare between both Seasons that they felt was a bit ruinous for their watching enjoyment and didn't want to put their thoughts on the matter into the mainstream.
Technically is was a bit of a stretch to consider it a Spoiler, but I understand their reasoning.

When we speculate around here on what we've seen, I don't really consider it a Spoiler cause I have found that most times, my speculation is waaaay off base.
:techman:

There were seemingly previous issues I must have missed, plus I was just giving Locutus a hard time.

Not in this thread, elsewhere. The poster he warned had been stirring things up and was already on thin ice.

And anyway, can't wait for the new episode tomorrow! I hope @Unimatrix Q is wrong about what he's speculating because...

That's not a trade-off I'd care for and it would be a major loss for the show if it did happen. I think Tilly needs to be toned down... but that's all. I don't want her off the show. So hopefully you're misreading things.

Despite the movies and music, I'm glad the '80s are over. Gene Roddenberry would have a heart attack if he saw how prominent women are on Discovery. I see people like him getting worse over time, not better.

What do you mean? Gene would've just bought an extra-large casting couch.

Gene: Okay, sure, we'll have more women. We can always use more yeomen!
Someone Else: I don't think that's what feminism is!
Gene: Please! Representation! And we've got a lot of representation right here! Look at that couch! I know I do.

Wow. So anyway...

I hope that, too

Whenever I can arbitrarily break the spirit of the people with my jackbooted thuggery, I don't hesitate to crush them underfoot. :p;)

As others have mentioned, there were a lot of longstanding issues with marsh going on, and he was just told by the admin to stay off her radar yesterday. You're not in any danger of getting into trouble over some silly joke, so return to relaxing.

I added the spoiler warning tag to the title.

I just want to be relevant.

there

bittersweet bit of shuttle lore I heard from one of the launch padrats. Columbia, being the first, had a lot of idiosyncracies that the rest of the fleet didn't have, and having some extra weight etc. They used to call her the Penguin. She was black and white and did not want to fly.

But on a sadder note, from her last flight, they know from telemetry that Columbia's reaction control system was doing everything it could autonomously to try and keep level flight even as the wings were ripping off and the ship was doomed. She did indeed want to fly.

When I tell someone to knock it off, I don't expect them to give me the finger. If they do, adios! ;) I don't have a quick banhammer; just ask my occasionally frustrated mods.

Can't wait for tomorrow's ep!
