Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

At the beginning of "That Hope Is You, Part I", immediately after she crash lands, Burnham sends the space suit back through the time portal/wormhole/vortex/whatever before it closes.

It all happens very fast.
OK, thanks that one wasn´t mistake...

It's why they did it. Though, IIRC season six would have been about Calypso, And come on, people have been begging for a Calypso tie-in since well, "Calypso".

A funny phenomenon I notice in ANY fandom is that they demand for something and when they finally get it they complain “we never asked for this!” Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

It mostly reminded me of the movie SPECTRE. Before that movie came out, there was a large contingent of Bond fans hoping that it would tie in with the other films, as the first two had a storyline going and the third film, SKYFALL, was seen as a brief break away from that storyline. So, SPECTRE actually tries to tie it all together. Not perfect, but it tried. And naturally a ton of fans respond “nobody asked for this to tie the movies together!”

OH PLEASE, I SAW ALL OF YOU BEG FOR IT.

Before 1969: "It'd be nice if James Bond were a little more fleshed out as a character and even settled down with somebody he actually loves."

1969: "THIS MOVIE IS A MESS. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMULA."

I’ve heard of those takes on OHMSS persisting up to the 80s, along with the movie being considered “the black sheep” of the franchise. I’m glad it’s rep is in higher esteem these days.

I recall OHMSS still having a dodgy rep even 30 years ago when my dad showed it to me for the first time as my introduction to 007. Didn’t matter to me, I loved it then and still do now, even with the Lazenby of it all.

Yea, but that’s because nu-SPECTRE was stupid. We wanted the return of the SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion — not Spectre, the Organization to Make My Brother Sad.

Spectre is down there with QOS and DAF as one of the absolute worst of the EON Bonds. Just....mediocre to the point where it's almost a contender for a Nobel Prize for World-Class Mediocrity.

I haven't seen Spectre or No Time To Die. Pierce Brosnan is my Bond.

I remember Casino Royale being good even though Daniel Craig wasn't my style. Quantum of Solace was stupid. Skyfall was good, but then I lost interest and unintentionally checked out. I've only seen each of the first three once.

Have to get this back on topic.

I'm re-watching two DSC S5 episodes per day every day this week. At least that's the plan. If everything pans out, I'll have the "Season 5 as a Whole" thread up this weekend. My thoughts, looking at the characters, the storyline in general, and all the episodes rated on a 10-scale. I'm not going to drag it out like with S4. I'll have everything upfront in the first post (or two, if I break it up) and everyone else can chime in.

Then that's it for me and Disco. At least until I eventually re-watch the whole thing in the future. Just not as far in the future as "Calypso". ;)

EDIT: Okay, so I lied. I started the thread overnight in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday!

Paramount should just ditch their Kelvin movie reboots or whatever and go fullblown "Agent Daniels, Federation spy" for their line of Trek movies. Plus with time travel, Daniels can go anytime and have appearances from any Trek actors from all across the timeline.

Even better make David Cronenberg direct the first such movie.
