Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Precious Cargo is the episode Brannon Braga actually tried to prevent from airing. Think about that for a moment.

And the one even the writer freely admits he knew was a piece of crap but submitted because the series needed a new episode by an upcoming airdate. Even the man who wrote it knew it sucked and said so in a DVD box set extras interview.

I liked the way he worded it to emphasize how much had changed between what he wrote and what aired. "The piece of crap that aired is not the piece of crap I wrote."

Despite what some Trek fans say some of the writers on ENT were pretty good and even funny in real life.

At this point fans are striking me like hunters; bitching about their supposed favorite show is an indication of care.

Wouldn't surprise me at all that writers of Star Trek are actually fun people.

The hate for ENT was ridiculous. I say that as a non-fan. I had to put as much distance between myself and those nut-jobs as possible. It's how I know opinions of DSC will change over time.

It already has changed. People say they don't like DSC now out of habit, instead of actual rage or genuine hatred. The heat that used to be there -- and it did used to be there -- is gone.

It's a fact of life now. Discovery was here, was highly successful then left a legacy.

No amount whining and crying and lying damaged it.

Eventually people will look at Vulcan Hello and say: what were we complaining about?

Yeah, it's getting so that people are less hating and more disappointed and lamenting what might have been, which I saw with Enterprise until it became more accepted.

I'm still hoping the Kelvin films get a similar treatment, but right now it feels like a long journey still.
