Spoilers Game of Thrones - Season 7

In answer to Emh's question about dragons - I believe that a dragon's sex is unknown unless it lays eggs.

Two thoughts I forgot to include before:

While Drogon was laying waste to the land, Tyrion looked like he had serious second thoughts about allying with Daenerys.
His conversation with Varys in the preview may confirm that.

I liked how Arya's return to Winterfell echoed back to that moment in season one when she tried to get back into King's Landing after getting lost in the dungeons while chasing the cat.

Ah, that makes sense.

That was awesome and the spoilers I'd read didn't spoil it at all. Bit confused about the interchangability of Arya and Aya in the conversations. Perhaps unseen she expressed a wish to continue being known as the former. Potential sororance/womance with Brienne?

Field of Fire 2.0 was pretty awesome, but everything before it was rather on the dull side.

Weird seeing Arya and Sansa together again! I find it hilarious that with both Stark reunions last episode and this episode, Rickon's death went completely unmentioned, because nobody gives a shit.

Didn't notice until this episode that Dickon Tarly was being played this season by Tom Hopper from Black Sails.

I'm amazed Chekov's Scorpion didn't result in a fatality.

Where was Viseryon when Dany attacked the Lannister army? Rhaegal was the first on scene, and Dany was of course riding Drogon, but there was no Viseryon.

Rhaegal flies in ahead of the Dothraki and Dany. You can tell because of his color and because he's flying on his own.

Edit: Apparently I had misidentified Rhaegal and Viseryon, believing the former to be Dany's red dragon and the latter to be her green dragon, so Rhaegal was actually they dragon who was missing from the battle and it is Viseryon and Drogon whom we see .

Why did Bran say he saw Arya at the Crossroads but not mention The Twins?

I have a theory about that. Bran said he thought Arya was going to head to Kings Landing and Arya said she did too. I think Bran manipulated things at that point just enough to get her to head North. We've seen that he can influence events in his visions. Information travels two ways. I wouldn't be surprised if Bran is pulling a few strings to arrange for people to end up where they need to, like Arya heading North instead of South.

I thought it was oddly anti-climactic though maybe that was the intent. Otherwise, the real life friendship between Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams perhaps worked against them selling the scene completely.

Same, I was sure that was going to happen just for the drama and to maybe take Dany down a peg as she's been quite self-righteous. Though if they did that I wonder if there'd be pushback from some circles seeing that as trying to weaken a strong female character.

Speaking of plot armor, Jaime and Bronn seemed to have it in spades. :)

And I stand corrected on the capability of spear crossbow (or whatever it's properly called). I hadn't considered it being on a swift pivot, although I do wonder about the quick mechanics of reloading it. Bronn made it look easy but that was largely framing and editing.

I was actually not surprised. I had done some research and you should look up the Roman scorpion bolt. Very much like what we saw in this episode, although this one was larger. The Romans even had a semi-automatic version. Once I saw the Romans had it, I figured it would show up in Game of Thrones. After all, if they had the crossbow part, it would take much to mount it like that. It suddenly becomes a MUCH more effective weapon against moving targets. Showing the bulky version was just to throw us off track!

90% certain there was only Drogon.

Thestral is correct. Only Drogon was present. They even cut to Dany riding him as he swoops in for the initial attack.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning" - Daenerys Targaryan ;)

The "fewer" reference was amusing.

Will Jon Snow learn he's Daenerys' nephew before or after the wedding? Does Westeros have an equivalent of Jeremy Kyle?

I don't think I noticed what happened to Randyll and Dickon Tarly. Did they survive the battle?

Especially with the dagger back in play. Speaking of which, I'm not clear on his motivations on giving it to Bran.

The dagger was a good in for him to both asses Bran, and to ingratiate himself to him.

I think he realized this might have been a huge mistake once Bran said "chaos is a ladder", and especially when he saw Arya fight with it. ;)

That battle was amazing and also left me so conflicted because I wanted the major characters to survive even those they were on opposite sides. Now Daenerys is aware of the weapon, she might not fly directly at it next time. If Kings Landing is swamped these weapons then her Dragons will have to be smarter about how they attack? + are they tipped with any sort of poison?

There is a certain bloodlust in Daenerys that worries me. Despite all her claims, she seeks power simply for the sake of power unlike Jon. I have never 100% trusted her and I wonder how this war will change her.
