Spoilers Futurama Season 12 (9) July 29th

Yeah, this one is probably the best of the season so far. Even when the jokes were obvious, they still came off as hilarious, like the Planet of the Apes homage with Cara Delevingne finding the Statue of Liberty with clothes draped all over it.

If it's anything like the Eye Phone (or whatever they were called) and Momazon cliffhangers, they won't address it. They'll just go back to the norm.

And yeah, I loved seeing the focus on Zoidberg. I half expected/hoped that when he decided to weep in the dumpster that he would find Marianne, even as a silent cameo. Alas. Poor Zoidberg. :wah:

Was this the first we've seen Fry's mermaid ex since the episode that introduced her?

Fuck. I didn’t realise this show was back for Season 12. Enjoyed Season 11 last year.

Looks like I have some binging to do on the weekend, which coincides nicely with the arrival of some weed and my wife being away.

Good News Everyone!

This is the current active Futurama thread, right?
I just have to say it, Zapp Brannigan needs his own series. :)

Episode 6 - For a while I thought it was too dumb, then I realised that maybe it was actually just dumb enough and found it really funny by the end. Being really silly is good, actually!

I guess Fry became a fan of Cara Delevingne after he arrived in the 31st century, because she would have been a child when he was frozen.

That reminds me of a silly thing that irritated me a few weeks ago, the episode about Fry's temp replacement. When they show the flashback to explain the Temp's origin, it's specifically stated to be set after the episode Amazon Women in the Mood, which aired in 2001, yet they mention things in those flashback scenes which no one was talking about in 2001, like TikTok and Olivia Rodrigo (who wasn't even born until 2003).

Yeah, I know it's a stupid thing to get worked up over. It might be an "add-on" to an episode which aired in 2001 but it's airing in 2024 and the scene itself takes place in the year 3001 where both references are to what is to the characters ancient history. But it's something which stood out to me all the same.

I got a chuckle out of the ending where the new coffee company logo resembles the Starbucks logo. Overall though, the episode had some good moments, they just weren't especially funny.

Been really enjoying this season! It feels like the writers upped their game, or maybe just settled in and got all the topical 21st century themes out of their system.
This week’s wasn’t the funniest but I enjoyed the plot and genuinely didn’t know where it was going!

What's weird is they've already had two other Starbucks parodies in the series

I always love a good Hermes adventure...and the first act felt like we were going to get a fun one. Unfortunately, things went off the rails when Hermes repeated the mistakes of his father and the episode lost focus with the Starbucks storyline. Some good jokes here and there but otherwise somewhat disappointing.
