Forum Name Change: Fan Films -> Fan Productions

Since Day One of this forum's existence we've been battling the misconception that the Fan Films forum exists only for filmed fiction when, in fact it is also (and should be) the home for audio productions as well. Now we do get our fair share of those, but I keep running across threads in other forums about audio productions that really belong here. For some reason, a few folks seem to take the old forum name (Fan Films) quite literally.

I kicked the idea around with Lord Garth and TPTB and all of us agreed that our forum name should be changed from Fan Films to Fan Productions and that discussion of both audio and visual forms should be encouraged here.

Both LG and myself hope that all of you approve of the change and that we'll continue to welcome all forms of fan productions.

Please feel free to offer up any comments, criticisms or questions about the name change here and I'll try and do my best to address them.

Fan Productions, huh? Good change.

Plus, Mallory, you can be a clearing house for Trekkie's birth announcements, maternity clothes swaps, showers, baby changing tips, feeding and teething problems, etc. Baby's are the most common Fan Productions.

No, purely teasing you, Mallory. I think the name change is a good one.

I visit this forum often although I have rarely posted, if ever. I do appreciate all the good works of the various film makers, actors and support staff. It looks like fun.

I will look forward to your seminar on how to change a really poopy diaper.

Definitely a good choice. But there´s also collaborative written fan series (the kind that´s divided into several seasons with each episode the length of a usual TV script or longer) that far surpass general fan fiction stories due to their size and complexity. Will that kind of shows classify for this redefined section as well?

Written material still belongs in Fan Fiction. The only kind of scripts I'd feel right about having in here would be ones for productions that have been recorded or filmed (as appropriate).

Makes very good sense. The Fan Production arena has seen a very large boom of late (again) and the more encompassing TrekBBS can be to all of them, the better.
